Abstract:
A cable tie installation tool (10) tensions a cable tie (12) about a plurality of elongated objects (14) and severs an excess portion of the cable tie (12). The cable tie (12) includes a head portion (16) and a tail portion (18). The tool (10)includes a housing (20) having a blade guard (30) having a front portion (32) and an anvil portion(38), a tensioning mechanism (22) operatively supported by the housing (20) for tensioning the cable tie (12) to a predetermined tension setting and retaining the cable tie head portion (16) at least partially against the blade guard (30), and a severing mechanism (24) including a linearly reciprocating blade (26) for severing the excess portion of the cable tie (12) near the head portion (16) once the cable tie (12) has been placed into the predetermined tension setting by the tensioning mechanism (22). The linearly reciprocating blade (26) passes behind the front portion of the blade guard (30) and in front of the anvil portion (38) of the blade guard (30).
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a metal locking tie (50) and a metal locking tie tool (120). The metal locking tie has a tie body (52), a tie head (60) secured to the tie body, and a roller means (92) disposed in the tie head. The tie head has a bottom (60), a ceiling (62), opposing sides (80, 82), a strap entrance end (84) and a strap exit end (86) that define a strap receiving passageway (90)therethrough. The tie head also includes an angled tool bearing surface (88) at the strap exit end. The metal locking tie tool includes a cutter cap (124) with a cutter (122) and a ball setter (130). Once the metal locking tie tool has tensioned the metal locking tie, the cutter moves linearly with respect to the cutter cap to set the roller means in the tie head and to provide a flush cut off of the excess tie body from the metal locking tie.
Abstract:
A tool for installing a metal locking tie is disclosed. The tool includes a tension mechanism and a ball set and cut-off mechanism. The tension mechanism tensions the metal locking tie wrapped around a bundle. The ball set and cut-off mechanism includes a guide block and a shear block that engages the guide block. Once the tool tensions the metal locking tie, a ball set and cut-off handle is manually activated to push the guide block and the shear block forward in the tool thereby setting a ball in a metal locking tie head and shearing a portion of the tensioned metal locking tie.

A tool for installing a metal locking tie is disclosed. The tool includes a tension mechanism and a ball set and cut-off mechanism. The tension mechanism tensions the metal locking tie (200) wrapped around a bundle. The ball set and cut-off mechanism includes a guide block (158) and a shear block (15S) that engages the guide block. Once the tool tensions the metal locking tie, the guide block and the shear block travel forward in the tool thereby setting a ball (204) in a metal locking tie head (202 and shearing a portion of the tensioned metal locking tie.

Abstract:
The tool has a restraint mechanism (230) for providing a predetermined tension setting to provide a predetermined tension in line with a tensioning mechanism (120). The tensioning mechanism is operatively supported by a housing for tensioning a cable tie in predetermined tension setting. An external power delivery system (170) actuates the tensioning mechanism and a cutting mechanism (330). The external power delivery system provides power in line with the tensioning mechanism. The cutting mechanism is operatively supported by the housing to severe the excess tail portion of the tensioned cable tie.
