    Abstract: A fenestration assembly includes a sash, a frame surrounding the sash, and at least one screen assembly. The sash includes at least one magnet. The sash is slideably engaged with the frame. The at least one screen assembly includes a roller assembly, a control bar, and screen material attached to the roller assembly and the control bar. The roller assembly is substantially hidden from view. The control bar includes a ferromagnetic material. The screen assembly is configured to apply tension to the screen material to wind the screen material around the roller assembly and to permit the screen material to unwind from the roller assembly under a tension applied to move the control bar away from the roller assembly. The control bar automatically engages the at least one magnet of the sash when the sash is in the closed configuration to attach the control bar to the sash.

    Abstract: A double hung window having a tiltable sash includes a sash brake for preventing movement of the sash along the jambs while in the tilted position. The preferred sash includes respective tongues extending along the stiles that are configured for reception in corresponding channels in the jambs for slidably mounting the sash and providing a seal between the stiles and window frame. The preferred brake elements each include a base configured for fitting within a groove of a respective tongue and a brake shoe that extends into the channel. Each shoe has a length greater than the width of channel so that when the sash is tilted, the shoe engages the channel side walls to provide braking against movement while in the tilted position.

    Abstract: An edge protector for a fenestration product is integrally formed of a sing le sheet of corrugated paperboard that has been perforated, slit, scored, glued , and folded in a particular manner so as to be generally flat in overall configuration prior to being placed in use. At the time of installation, the protector is partially unfolded out of its flat plane to assume an overall generally transversely L-shaped configuratio n, having a pair of legs intersecting one another at right angles to form a receiving corner for the face and side margins of the product. One leg of the protector forms a flap that covers a marginal portion of the face of the product when the protector is fitted onto the product, while the other leg forms a second flap that covers a marginal portion of the sides of the product. A stiff, relatively short spacer flange comprising a double layer of the material glued together projects edgewise from the outside of the corner in the opposite lateral direction from the side flap to keep the face of the produc t spaced away from foreign objects. Wrapping of the protector around an outside corner of the product is facilitated by the provision of tear-out tabs embodied in the face flap s o that the appropriate tab aligned with the corner of the product may be torn out to leave an emptynotch in the flap at that location. The absence of material at the corner of the product eliminates the structural rigidity otherwise afforded by the face flap at th at location to enable the protector to more readily bend around the corner.
