Abstract: An adaptive centrifugal brake assembly is disclosed. The adaptive centrifugal brake assembly controls rotational speed of a shaft. The brake assembly is adaptive and changes braking force based at least in part on torque applied to the shaft and/or the speed of rotation of the shaft. In some embodiments, the adaptive centrifugal brake assembly includes an adaptive mechanism such as a leaf spring that enables the assembly to be adaptive.
