Abstract:
An incandescent electric lamp comprising a) an envelope of a material, which is transmissive to visible light, generally defining a single chamber having an envelope with an overall shape composed of multiple twinned elongated members, each member having a surface of revolution defining an axis of rotation, b) a filament array within said envelope for producing radiation in both the visible and the infrared range, comprising folded arrangements of multiple filament sections, c) each filament section located on or closely adjacent to an axis of rotation, d) means on the surfaces of the envelope for reflecting radiation in the infrared wavelength range, e) and means for supplying current to said filament, has improved conversion efficiency, because the focusing of the reflected infrared radiation to the filament sections is improved.
