Abstract: Compositions and processes for using the compositions for applications in a subterranean formation are provided. The compositions include a composition which comprises a nitrogen-containing olefinic compound; a composition comprises a water-soluble polymer prepared from the nitrogen-containing olefinic compound and optionally an olefinic comonomer; a composition which comprises the water-soluble polymer, a cross-linking agent, and a liquid; and a composition which comprises a clay, the water-soluble polymer, and a liquid. These compositions can be used as or in compositions for enhanced oil recovery, drilling fluids, workover fluids, completion fluids, or combinations of any two or more thereof.
