Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain an effect in the reduction of an entire image scanner size by reducing the depth of a carriage 20 more. SOLUTION: The carriage for an image scanner incorporates a first reflection mirror group to reflect a light beam coming from a reading object, a lens provided on the lower side of the optical path of the first reflection mirror group and to refract the light beam reflected by the first reflection mirror group, a second reflection mirror group provided on the lower side of the optical path of the lens and to reflect the light beam refracted by the lens and a photoelectric conversion element provided on the lower side of the optical path of the second reflection mirror group and to transduce into an electric signal by receiving the light beam reflected from the second reflection mirror group.
