    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector device with which the problem of the optical path lengths of the light beams of three colors passing through the inside of a spectroscope means being different is improved, and whose structure is simplified. SOLUTION: This projector device has a light source means, first, second and third optical modulation means and a dichroic polarizing beam splitter, and the polarized beams of three colors such as red, blue and green, having a different polarizing states are generated by the light source means, and the polarization state of the polarized beam of a single color is changed through reflection by each optical modulating means, and the dichroic polarizing beam splitter possesses a dichroic mirror, first, second and third polarizing beam splitter mirrors and delay film, and the dichroic mirror and the third polarizing beam splitter mirror are disposed on the same diagonal of the dichroic polarizing beam splitter; and the first and second polarizing beam splitter mirrors are disposed on the other diagonal orthogonal with it, and the delay film is provided between the second and third polarizing beam splitter mirrors.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device in which the difference in the propagation distance of input beams of three colors is eliminated. SOLUTION: The projection type display device to display electrically encoded images comprises a L-type optical module 50 having first, second third polarization beam splitter mirrors 70, 71, 74 and a first retarder film 73. A first monochromatic polarized beam is directed by the first polarization beam splitter mirror 70 to a first modulation unit 44, and the first modulated beam is reflected to propagate from the first modulation unit through the first retarder film 73 to the second polarization beam splitter mirror 72. A polarization beam of two colors is divided into a second monochromatic polarized beam and a third monochromatic polarized beam according to the respective polarization of the beams by the third polarization beam splitter mirror 74 to propagate to second and third modulation units, respectively.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector having a simple structure which can resolve the problem that light beams of three colors are different by distances of advance. SOLUTION: The projector is comprised of first, second, and third modulation units which change the polarization by reflection, an optical module which is comprised of first and third polarizing beam splitters approximately arranged along a flat face and a second dichroic mirror perpendicular to the flat face, and a set of incidence lenses which is provided between a light source and the optical module and is comprised of a fourth dichroic mirror and a delay film, and the fourth dichroic mirror separates polarized light beams of three colors to polarized monochromatic light and polarized bicolor light, and the delay film converts one polarized monochromatic light of polarized bicolor light to oppositely polarized light.
