Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent product comprising a stretch laminate that retracts slowly upon being released from a stretched state, thus facilitating positioning and application of the product correctly onto a wearer. SOLUTION: The absorbent article may comprise a topsheet, a backsheet joined with the topsheet, an absorbent core interposed between the topsheet and backsheet, and one or more article elements selected from the group consisting of an anal cuff, an elasticized topsheet, a fastening system, a leg cuff, a waist elastic feature, a side panel, an ear, and combinations thereof. The article elements comprise a slow recovery stretch laminate exhibiting an unload force at 37°C of about 0.16 N/(g/m) or greater and a percent of initial strain after 15 seconds of recovery at 22°C of about 10% or greater. Abstract:
An absorbent article having a distribution member comprising non-biopersistent inorganic vitreous microfibers. The microfibers have an average effective diameter between about 0.1 micron and about 6 microns and are arranged in a fibrous assembly having a basis weight between about 40 g/m 2 and about 350 g/m 2 and a density between about 0.04 g/m 3 and about 0.25 g/m 3 . In preferred embodiments, the fibrous assembly can vertically wick a 0.9% saline solution to a height of 5 cm in less than about 5 minutes.

Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure involve fluid partitioning characteristics of removable and replaceable absorbent core components used with disposable absorbent articles. A replaceable core component can be constructed to have fluid partitioning characteristics that reduce the need to replace the chassis of the absorbent article as often as well as providing comfort to the wearer. The more fluid a replaceable core component absorbs and extracts from the chassis results in correspondingly less fluid that will remain in the chassis when the replaceable core component is removed and replaced. The ability of a replaceable core component to absorb and extract fluid from the chassis of an absorbent article may be evaluated by measuring the fluid partitioning values of the replaceable core component and absorbent article. Fluid partitioning values provide an indication of the percentage of a quantity of fluid discharged into the chassis that is absorbed by the replaceable core component.
Abstract:
An absorbent article is disclosed having a topsheet, a backsheet joined with the topsheet, an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet, and a synthetic superabsorbent polymer derived from a first renewable resource via at least one intermediate compound, wherein said superabsorbent polymer exhibits a defined Saline Flow Conductivity value and Absorption Against Pressure value. Alternately, an absorbent article is disclosed having a synthetic polyolefin derived from a first renewable resource via at least one intermediate compound. The synthetic polyolefin exhibits defined performance characteristics making the polyolefin particularly useful in certain components of the absorbent article. Methods for making the aforementioned absorbent articles are also disclosed.
Abstract:
This disclosure relates to compositions comprising an open-celled polymeric foam wherein the compositions are useful for sequestering lipophilic materials present in the gastrointestinal tract, thereby inhibiting the absorption of such lipophilic materials by the body. The disclosure further relates to compositions comprising the open-celled polymeric foam wherein the compositions are useful for ameliorating side effects associated with the use of lipase inhibitors. In a preferred embodiment, this disclosure relates to compositions comprising polymeric foam materials made from high internal phase emulsions, where such foams are useful for sequestering lipophilic materials. Further disclosed are compositions comprising open-celled polymeric foams wherein the compositions are useful for the purpose of sequestering aqueous and/or hydrophilic materials present in the gastrointestinal tract, thereby ameliorating diarrhea. Kits comprising the compositions and methods of using the compositions and kits are also described.
Abstract:
This application relates to microporous, open-celled polymeric foam materials with physical characteristics that make them suitable for a variety of uses produced from high internal phase emulsions (HIPEs). This application particularly relates to oxidatively stable emulsifiers used to stabilize the HIPE and the foams produced from such HIPEs.
