Abstract:
Techniques for efficiently assigning resources for spurts of traffic in a wireless communication system are described. The system may support semi-pe rsistent and non-persistent resource assignments. A semi-persistent resource assignment is valid for as long as more data is sent within a predetermined time period of last sent data and expires if no data is sent within the pre determined time period. A non-persistent resource assignment is valid for a predetermined duration or a specific transmission. A semi-persistent resourc e assignment may be granted for an expected spurt of data to send via the co mmunication link. For Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP), a semi-persistent resource assignment may be granted for a voice frame in anticipation of a s purt of voice activity, and a non-persistent resource assignment may be gran ted for a silence descriptor (SID) frame during a period of silence.

Se describen técnicas para asignar eficientemente recursos para impulsos de tráfico en sistemas de comunicaciones inalámbricas. El sistema puede soportar asignaciones de recursos semi-persistentes y no persistentes. Una asignación de recursos semi-persistente es válida siempre y cuando se envíen más datos en un periodo predeterminado de los últimos datos enviados y expira si no se envía ningún dato en el periodo predeterminado. Una asignación de recursos no persistente es válida para una duración predeterminada o una transmisión específica. Puede concederse una asignación de recursos semi-persistente para un impulso de datos deseado a enviar mediante el enlace de comunicaciones. Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for wireless communication are disclosed. The apparatus comprises means for determining a resource assignment for a communication link and means for exchanging data via the communication link based on the resource assignment. The resource assignment is valid for as long as more data is sent within a predetermined time period of last sent data. The means comprise at least one processor; and a memory coupled to the at least one processor. The processor is further on figured to relinquish the resource assignment upon determining that more data has not been exchanged within the predetermined time period from when data was last exchanged.
