Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct a sleep clock operating in a wireless environment. SOLUTION: A time reference output by a wireless communication network is investigated and compared with output of a sleep clock and a current error in a sleep clock frequency is computed. If the current error does not exceed a predetermined threshold, the current error is utilized as a corrected error. If the current error exceeds the predetermined threshold, the restricted current error is utilized as a corrected error. Input including the corrected error is utilized to estimate the frequency of the sleep clock. When the next wake-up time is scheduled, the estimate in the frequency of the sleep clock is utilized. Abstract:
Certain embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method for scanning for paging messages in a second radio access technology (RAT) network, such as a CDMA network, while connected to a first RAT network, such as a WiMAX network. For certain embodiments, an enhanced scanning request message may facilitate establishing a scanning cycle in the first RAT that aligns with a paging cycle of the second RAT.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods are provided for accounting for the effects of auto matic gain control (AGC) in a multi carrier communications system when combi ning pilot tone interlaces by essentially reversing the effects of the AGC. In an aspect, a method for adjusting for the effects of automatic gain contr ol when combining pilot interlaces in an interlace filter of a communication system is disclosed. The method includes determining a normalization gain o f an applied automatic gain control normalized to a predefined time (604). A dditionally, two or more combining coefficients for an interlace filter are determined based on a selected criterion (606). Each of the two or more comb ining coefficients is then modified based on the determined normalization ga in (608) to yield adjusted combining coefficients. Corresponding apparatus a re also disclosed.
Abstract:
A method for correcting operation of the sleep oscillator ( 116 ) of a wireless communications device ( 100 ). Sleep oscillator frequency is estimated ( 412 ) so as to compensate for estimated temperature induced errors. In estimating temperature induced errors, errors ( 504 ) in sleep oscillator frequency are treated as being temperature induced errors ( 522 ), but probable multipath errors are bounded ( 410, 520 ) to predetermined sleep clock error maxima ( 602 ) corresponding to sleep duration over which the error occurred.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods are provided for making timing adjustments in a mul ti carrier communications system. In an aspect, a timing correction method i s. provided for a multi-carrier system. This includes adjusting the time bas is of two or more pilot interlaces with respect to each other (804) in order to account for timing differences between the interlaces when combining the interlaces, and then adjusting or matching the time bases of the combined i nterlaces with a symbol to be demodulated (806). The alignment and matching is performed -in order to generate channel estimates for data demodulation ( 807). The channel estimates, thus generated, along with the timing alignment information are in turn used for determining timing corrections to be appli ed to demodulation of a particular symbol. Corresponding apparatus are also disclosed that implement the methodology.
