Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved receiver for use in a wireless base station which achieves enhanced reliability, in particular, by separating diversity reception paths, regarding a wireless receiver and reception paths for the base station. SOLUTION: A receiver system includes a first diversity reception path for receiving a first radio signal and a second diversity reception path for receiving a second radio signal. The first and second radio signals are amplitude and phase shifted versions of the same information signal according to well known principles of diversity reception. The outputs of each receiver is coupled to a distribution bus and afterwards to at least one demodulator for diversity combining the first and second radio signals and for demodulating the diversity combined first and second radio signals. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for pre-correction of transmission in wireless communications. SOLUTION: A wireless communication system includes a base station 102 having a plurality of antennas 104 for transmission, and transmits pilot signals to a subscriber station 120. The subscriber station 120 performs channel measurements on the signals received from the base station 102 through at least two transmission paths 106, 108, and sends path characteristic information for each path to the base station 102. By using the path characteristic information, the base station 102 determines the best transmission method of data in transmission of data from the multiple transmit antennas 104 to a single receive antenna 112 at the subscriber station 120. Through the use of pre-correction techniques, data signals are transmitted through the multiple transmission antennas so that signals received through the multiple transmission paths can be demodulated and decoded as a single signal. Abstract:
An improved method and apparatus for using parallel amplifiers to efficiently amplify an information signal are disclosed. The improved apparatus utilizes digital signal manipulation techniques in optimizing the phase of the upconverted input signals provided to each of the parallel amplifiers. The phase and amplitude of the input signals are adjusted such that the power measured at the output of a combiner is maximized as compared to the sum of the power of combiner input signals.

A wireless telephone (102) includes a telephone transceiver (104), GPS receiver (106), and Bluetooth transceiver (108). The telephone antenna (110) is external, and the Bluetooth antenna (120) is internal. The GPS receiver (106) may be driven by its own internal antenna (326), or via a signal separator (116), (216), by either of the other antennas ((110), (120).
