Abstract: An apparatus and method for reducing call setup time of a wireless communication device including determining an uplink interference information, including the uplink interference information in a paging message to be sent on a Common Control Channel and sending the paging message on the Common Control Channel. In one aspect, the paging message is received, the uplink interference information from the received paging message is obtained, and a RRC connection request message is sent in response to the received paging message.
