Abstract:
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently distribute content in a multi-frequency network.SOLUTION: When distribution of content multiplexes is determined (1004), service overheads are determined based on content multiplex distribution information (1006), service multiplexes are generated from content layer multiplexes (1008), and distribution is determined (1010). In the block 1012, distribution overheads are determined for each content multiplex on the basis of the distribution information, and service layer multiplexes are combined with the distribution overheads to generate distribution layer multiplexes (1014). In the block 1016, sets of equivalent distribution layer multiplexes are identified, and the distribution layer multiplexes are transmitted to transmitter sites for distribution over a multi-frequency network (1018).
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus simultaneously hosting multiple service providers on a network. SOLUTION: The method includes controlling access to services provided by one or more service providers, and discovering affiliation provisions associated with a device, wherein the affiliation provisions are associated with one or more selected service providers. The method also includes filtering the services according to the affiliation provisions to generate a package database of services provided by the one or more selected service providers, and transmitting the package database to the device. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for data packet transport in a wireless communication system using an Internet Protocol. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for data packet transport in a wireless transmission system supporting broadcast transmissions. A trigger recognized at the transmission node initiates a broadcast transmission, and the resultant set-up of a transmission path. A termination trigger then indicates that the transmission node is not serving users desiring the broadcast transmission, and in response the transmission path is shut down. A multi-cast call, such as a group call, may be transmitted to active users via uni-cast channel(s) or multi-cast channel(s) based on a predetermined criteria, such as number of active users. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide apparatus and methods for the communication of system state information change to wireless devices in a content server network in a resource and power efficient manner.SOLUTION: A method for conveying system state information to a wireless device includes sending a primary message including first information configured to communicate a first current system state to the wireless device, and then sending second information set usable by the wireless device to update system state information. By summarizing or abbreviating the first information, a receiving device can easily compare to the past system states to determine whether further processing, such as processing of the second information, is needed, thereby affording the conservation of processing and power resources of a receiving device. Corresponding apparatus is also disclosed.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system to distribute content to a device on a data network that supports multiple content packagers and customer service entities in a flexible manner.SOLUTION: A flexible system for distributing content to a device involves associating a set of packages with a provider, associating a set of tiers with a package, associating a set of channels with a tier, and allowing subscription to a package of services associated with the provider, where a channel is a view of a service, the view based on the provider associated with the service.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods and an apparatus for creation and transport of multimedia content flows to a distribution network. SOLUTION: The system includes a method for transporting a content flow to an access network for distribution to devices coupled to the access network. The method includes transmitting a request message to add the content flow to the access network, wherein the request message has one or more flow parameters associated with the content flow. The method also includes receiving a response message indicating that the content flow associated with the one or more flow parameters will be added to the access network, and delivering the content flow to the access network. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for delivering media to a group of target communication devices. SOLUTION: A group communication server significantly reduces network traffic and media processing time by transmitting a single copy of media destined for a group of target reception stations to a wireless infrastructure over a multicast path. The wireless infrastructure replicates and transmits one copy of the media to each of the plurality of target reception stations that are assigned to dedicated channels, or multicasts one copy of the media to the plurality of target reception stations that are assigned to a shared channel. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable auxiliary services to be provided and performed together with a base service in a media delivery system.SOLUTION: Apparatus and methods for customizing a media channel include receiving a presentation associated with a base service and an auxiliary presentation associated with an auxiliary service. Further, the apparatus and methods include providing a customized channel to a device, where the customized channel is based on a combination of at least a portion of the base service with at least a portion of the auxiliary service.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods and apparatus for providing service notifications in a network environment.SOLUTION: A method of operating to provide a notification system comprises the steps of: obtaining notification information; determining a response factor; generating a notification message comprising selected notification information, where the notification message is generated to produce a response based on the response factor; and broadcasting the notification message. An apparatus that operates to provide a notification system comprises: a notification interface configured to obtain notification information; processing logic configured to generate a notification message comprising selected notification information, where the notification message is generated to produce a response based on the response factor; and broadcast logic configured to broadcast the notification message.
