PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for reverse link transmission beam-forming.SOLUTION: A method and system for reverse link transmission beam-forming are provided. One method comprises using a plurality of antennas at an access terminal to wirelessly transmit signals to one or more base stations; receiving an input indicating a reverse link signal quality at one or more base stations; and adjusting at least one of a gain and a phase of a signal to be transmitted on one or more antennas. The input may be a reverse power control (RPC) value sent from one or more base stations.

Abstract:
A receiver may train its equalizer using consecutive pilot bursts, divide the traffic between the consecutive pilot bursts into multiple sub-segments, and interpolate the trained equalizer coefficients to obtain the coefficients for equalizing one or more of the sub-segments. The receiver may also determine signal to interference and noise ratio (SINR) values based on each of the consecutive pilot bursts, and interpolate the SINR for decoding one or more of the sub-segments. The receiver may be an access terminal receiver operating in a code division multiple access (CDMA) cellular system.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for determining the data rate of a reverse link communication of an access terminal includes receiving a reverse activity bit (RAB) from an access network in the communication system, and passing the RAB to multiple digital filters to produce filtered RABs. The reverse link data rate is determined based on these filtered values of the RABs. From the filtered RAB values a continuous fluid power level is determined each rate update. The access terminal maps the continuous fluid power level to actual physical transmissions by dithering among discrete power levels allowed by the physical layer.

The present aspects relate to methods and apparatuses to power off a modem receiver or components of the receiver at a time prior to the end of the frame based on data in the frame being received and properly decoded before the end of the frame. In an aspect, the apparatuses and methods provide power saving in a wireless device, and include receiving data within a frame at a user equipment, determining whether all payload packet data has been correctly decoded prior to an end of the frame, and powering down a receiver component for a portion of a remainder of the frame in response to determining that all payload packet data has been correctly decoded and where a first time period to a next scheduled overhead bit transmission period of a slot in the frame is greater than a second time period corresponding to a warm-up period for the receiver component.
