Abstract: A system for extending the battery life of a wireless phone has four circuit s. A first circuit (20) provides a control signal (40) indicative of a mode of the wireless phone. A second circuit (20), which may be the same as the firs t circuit, provides a transmit signal (Tx). A third circuit (32) receives a biasing signal (42) and amplifies the transmit signal in preparation for transmission. A fourth circuit (12) selectively alters the power dissipated by the third circuit by selectively changing the biasing signal in response to the control signal.
