Abstract:
Methods systems and devices are provided for receiving at a receiver device a data block or file containing a plurality of application symbols determining the number of application symbols received in the block generating a metric based on the number of application symbols received in the block and transmitting the metric to a server. The metric may further be generated based on a number of application symbols that were required to recover the block or file. The server may use the metric received from one or more receiver devices to adjust the transmission settings for additional data transmissions.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Various embodiments provide methods and systems for identifying statistically multiplexed groups of services and coordinating the groups of services for multicast or broadcast over the same transmission channels. Further embodiments provide methods and systems for providing quality of service requirements for groups or subgroups of statistically multiplexed services. Coordination of the groups of services for multicast or broadcast over the same transmission channels may be based on the provided quality of service requirements. Various embodiments may identify groups of services and provide associated of service requirements by sending modified session start messages or separate group messages.

Abstract:
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for encoding data for transmission on a communication link of a content delivery system includes: receiving (1002) data to be communicated to a device, the data received as a multiple data link layer packets of a logical channel carrying broadcast data; encoding (1004) the multiple data link layer packets of the logical channel as one outer codeword using an outer code at an outer code rate; encoding (1006) symbols of the outer codeword with an inner code; and indicating (1008) the outer code and the outer code rate through signaling, including setting a first value for a first field of a control channel and setting a second value for a second field of the control channel, wherein the first value is determined by the outer code, and the second value is determined by the outer code rate.
Abstract:
Embodiments provide power-efficient mechanisms for communicating small amounts of information to receiver devices within a mobile broadcast system. A generic transport mechanism enables transmitting data relevant to upper layer protocols in a lower layer sub-channel so multiple information summary flows can share the same physical layer sub-channel. Data fields are added to the Overhead Information Service (OIS) channel to provide power-efficient logical channels for carrying the summary information. Data from the power-efficient logical channels are provided to an upper protocol layer that receives the information summary flows. Information summary flow may carry a version number of an information flow in the broadcast signal, codes or other information. Receiver devices periodically monitoring the OIS receive the information summary flows. Employing an embodiment, a receiver device can minimize power consumption because reception of the OIS can indicate whether any new information flows are available, obviating a need to periodically check information flows.
