Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for receiving data in a mobile electronic device from a data input device. SOLUTION: The system includes a circuit for detecting data input device connection to a connector which the mobile electronic device includes. The detection is performed by inspection for operation state of a device contained in the mobile electronic device, by an electrical sensing circuit which determines the presence of the data input device, or by a mechanical sensing circuit which determines the presence of the data input device. When a device to be connected is determined to be a data input device, the data from the data input device is collected and processed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device capable of using a probabilistic feedback to optimize a distribution of a multicast content about the content distribution, within a network environment. SOLUTION: The method is provided for transmitting data from a server to a plurality of receiving terminals. The method includes the processes of transmitting the data from the server to the plurality of the receiving terminals and generating a random response value by each receiving terminal. The method, further, includes a processing of comparing the response value with acknowledged value by each receiving terminal, and to transmit an acknowledgment signal from the selected receiving terminal to the server. The selected receiving terminal is a part of the plurality of the receiving terminals in which the response value has a selected relation with respect to the acknowledged value. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for wireless network to uninstall an application program of a wireless telephone or the like. SOLUTION: Network-initiated uninstallation of programs is performed over a wireless network to recall programs stored on a wireless telephone that are faulty or harmful to the wireless telephone, the wireless network, or a user of the wireless telephone. A recall command includes a unique application identification for the targeted application program and an instruction to the wireless telephone to uninstall the targeted application program. The recall command is broadcast over the wireless network to the wireless telephones. In response to the recall command, the wireless telephone automatically uninstalls the targeted application program by executing a recall program on the wireless telephone (418). PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a variation in the transmission rate of a variable rate vocoder and any other variable rate data source in order to maximize the usage state of communication resources. SOLUTION: Use of a communication resource, for example, use of a forward link resource from a base station 2 to a remote user 4 or use of a reverse link resource from the remote user 4 to the base station 2 is measured. The measured use value is compared with at least one predetermined threshold to change a communication subset relating to a communication data rate or the communication resource according to the comparison result. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile operating environment, and specifically, management of a dynamic mobile coupon (DMC) at a mobile device.SOLUTION: Dynamic characteristics associated with the DMC, such as a redeemable value, can be utilized to browse, sort, search, recall, or redeem the DMC utilizing a user interface of the mobile device. In other aspects, a DMC management application can interact with server components to backup and store DMC data, to synchronize dynamic information (e.g., a dynamic redeemable value) and to access or manage a user profile, and interface with other mobile devices to accomplish sharing, trading, exchanging, selling the DMC, and so on.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auction bidding system.SOLUTION: The system allows media content providers, such as advertisers, to define bidding constraints for a targeted audience and bid on wireless device assets, such as a wireless device memory, a wireless device application, a wireless device ringtone, and wireless device wallpaper, if a biddable wireless device asset is defined. Additionally, the system provides wireless device users with an option to participate in allocation of the users' respective wireless device assets, such as a memory, an application, a ringtone, and wallpaper, and define conditions, such as a content type and a time period, which is to be met in order for the allocation of the wireless device asset to occur. In one or more aspects, the wireless device users may be compensated in some form on the basis of the users' willingness to opt-in to the asset allocation plan.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for estimating a background noise energy level. SOLUTION: The method comprises measuring the energy of a current speech frame; and determining a new estimate of the background noise based on the comparison of the measured energy of the current speech frame and a previous estimate of the background noise. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for minimizing data bottlenecks in low data rate networks (LDRNs) that communicate facsimile transmissions. SOLUTION: An LDRN is a facsimile network having a transmission data rate less than the data relate of the FAX machines serviced by the network. The system and method can be implemented in any type of LDRN, including analog and digital wired LDRNs, as well as analog and digital wireless LDRNs (cellular networks, for example). The system and method involve processing the facsimile transmissions in order to make the data rates of the LDRN and the FAX machines compatible. Thus, any potential facsimile data bottlenecks that may occur in the LDRN due to its slower data rate can be minimized. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce interference caused by concurrent broadcast transmissions from multiple transmitters.SOLUTION: Synchronized broadcast transmits the same broadcast content using the same waveform from multiple transmitters. The transmitters each apply the same spreading code for broadcast transmissions. In a spread-spectrum communication system having a time division multiplexed forward link, a synchronized broadcast transmission is inserted into a broadcast slot. An Orthogonal Frequency Divisional Multiplex (OFDM) waveform is used for the synchronized broadcast transmission. An OFDM receiver is then used to process the received synchronized broadcast transmission. A broadcast Pseudo-random Noise (PN) code is used for use by multiple transmitters. An equalizer is then used to estimate the synchronized broadcast transmission.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of transmitting, by synchronized broadcast, the same broadcast content using the same waveform from multiple transmitters.SOLUTION: Transmitters each apply the same spreading code for broadcast transmissions. In a spread-spectrum communication system having a time division multiplexed forward link, a synchronized broadcast transmission is inserted into a broadcast slot. One embodiment employs an Orthogonal Frequency Divisional Multiplex (OFDM) waveform for the synchronized broadcast transmission. An OFDM receiver is then used to process the received synchronized broadcast transmission. An alternate embodiment implements a broadcast Pseudo-random Noise (PN) code for use by multiple transmitters. An equalizer is then employed to estimate the synchronized broadcast transmission.
