    Abstract: Systems and techniques to determine an approximate location for a mobile device using historic location information. In an aspect, a SUPL Location Platform (SLP), which is a location server in SUPL, may receive data from SUPL Enabled Terminal (SET). The data may include the Multiple Location IDs Parameter. The real time Location ID Parameter may not have a current status. The SLP may determine an approximate position for the SET based on the Multiple Location IDs Parameter data received from the SET. The SLP may then send the approximate position to the SET or a SUPL Agent, or may use the approximate position information in another way. The SLP may send to the SET supported network information indicating one or more radio access networks supported by the SLP.

    Abstract: Techniques for querying for information on location sessions in a user plane location architecture are described. In an aspect, a location server may send a query message to a terminal to query for information on active location sessions, e.g., when at least one location session for periodic triggered service or area event triggered service is deemed to be active. The terminal may return a response message containing a list of session identifiers (IDs) for the active location sessions, parameters for the active location sessions, capabilities of the terminal, etc. The location server may compare the information received from the terminal and information stored at the location server. The location server may terminate each location session deemed to be active at only the terminal or only the location server. The location server may restart or terminate each location session having inconsistent parameters at the terminal and the location server.

    Abstract: Techniques for supporting location services with roaming are described. A mobile station interacts with a home mobile positioning center (H-MPC) in a home network for location services even when roaming. The mobile station communicates with a visited network for a data session and receives a request for its location. The mobile station sends first information (e.g., SID and NID) indicative of its current network location to the H-MPC. The H-MPC determines a serving mobile positioning center (S-MPC) in the visited network based on the first information. The S-MPC determines a serving position determining entity (S-PDE) in the visited network based on the first information. Depending on the selected positioning method, the H-MPC may receive an S-PDE address or a position estimate of the mobile station from the S-MPC and may forward this information to mobile station.; The mobile station may communicate with the S-PDE for positioning using the S-PDE address.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus to perform position determination in a wireless (e.g., cellular) communication network with repeaters. A signal received by a terminal is initially identified as being from a repeater. A position and a position uncertainty for the identified repeater are obtained (e.g., from a repeater database) and provided as the position estimate and position uncertainty for the terminal if (1) a more accurate position estimate for the terminal cannot be obtained, (2) the terminal is deemed to be in an indoor environment, or (3) the terminal is located sufficiently close to the identified repeater. If information for additional delays associated with the identified repeater is available, then the position estimate for the terminal may be derived based on a "compensated" time measurement for the identified repeater (i.e., with the additional delays removed) and time measurements for at least two other transmitters received by the terminal.
