Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are described that facilitate the communication of data between a transmitter and a receiver across a serial bus interface. In one configuration, a transmitter generates a datagram based on a 16-bit address and a mask-and-data pair burst length, the 16-bit address including a most significant byte (MSB) and a least significant byte (LSB), compares the MSB to a receiver base address maintained in a shadow register, compares the mask-and-data pair burst length to a receiver masked-write burst length maintained in the shadow register, and sends the datagram to the receiver via the bus interface when: the MSB is equal to the receiver base address maintained in the shadow register, and the mask-and-data pair burst length is equal to the receiver masked-write burst length maintained in the shadow register.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are described that facilitate the communication of data between a transmitter and a receiver across a serial bus interface. In one configuration, a transmitter generates a datagram based on a register address, detects whether the register address is within a high data rate (HDR) access address range, and sends a payload of the datagram to the receiver according to a HDR mode when the register address is within the HDR access address range. In another configuration, the transmitter generates a datagram including at least a command field and a data field, sends the command field to the receiver according to a single data rate (SDR) mode, wherein the command field indicates a transition to a high data rate (HDR) mode for sending the data field, and sends the data field to the receiver according to the HDR mode.

Abstract: A system and method for bad frame indication of a speech frame includes estimating a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and checking a cyclic redundancy co de (CRC) value of the speech frame. When the speech frame fails CRC error detection or the SNR is below a pre-specified value, a bad frame indication (BFI) flag is set. When the speech frame passes CRC error detection and the SNR is above the pre-specified value, a receive signal quality metric of the speech frame is checked against a high threshold and, if need be, a low threshold. The BFI flag and the receive signal quality metric for the previo us speech frame is checked when the current receive signal quality metric is between the high and low thresholds. The BFI flag is set according to the value of the SNR, the CRC value, the current and previous receive signal quality metrics, and the previous BFI flag.

Abstract: This disclosure is directed to digitally implemented GMSK modulation techniques. The digital GMSK modulation techniques make use of a lookup tabl e (LUT) and mapping logic to digitally generate GMSK waveforms. The mapping logic can significantly reduce the size of the LUT, and thereby reduce memor y requirements needed for effective digitally implemented GMSK modulation. A disclosed method comprises : selecting a first GMSK waveform from a LUT base d on a first subset of an input bit stream; inverting the first GMSK waveform to generate a second GMSK waveform; and selecting one of the first and second GMSK waveforms based on a second subset of the input bit stream.

Abstract: Techniques for identifying and suppressing frequency spurs in a signal are disclosed. In an embodiment, an incoming signal is rotated by a frequency related to a spur frequency, and an estimate of the content of the rotated signal is derived. The estimate may be subtracted from the rotated incoming signal, and the result de-rotated by the spur frequency. In an embodiment, the incoming signal may be rotated such that the spur is centered at DC. In an alternative embodiment, the estimate may be de-rotated before being subtracted from the original incoming signal. Techniques for addressing multiple spurs using serial and parallel architectures are disclosed. Further disclosed are techniques for searching for the presence of spurs in an incoming signal, and tracking spur frequencies over time.
