Abstract:
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manage information that is received from one or more users over a communication network.SOLUTION: A user provides information to the network using a network node, such as a data acquisition device that is a wireless, mobile communication device. The system monitors the user's location within a communication environment and sends an alarm to a user when the user is near a location that satisfies user-specified criteria. The system stores the user-provided information at a central database that is linked to the communication network. When an authorized user revises the information, any other authorized user can access the revised information by accessing the central database through a node of the communication network.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for shortening the time needed to fix the position of an integrated GPS/wireless terminal unit in acquiring GPS satellite signals from the GPS satellite constellation. SOLUTION: The invention includes a method for narrowing the PN-code phase search. That is, by accounting for the variables in geographic location and time delay relative to GPS time, the systems and methods generate a narrow code-phase search range that enables the terminal unit to more quickly acquire and track the necessary GPS satellites, and thereby more quickly provide accurate position information to a requesting entity. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for establishing client-host active associations within a wireless network.SOLUTION: Active association corresponds to a host exclusively using a shared resource of a client. When the association is solid, requests from other hosts to establish an active association are denied. When the association is fragile, the requests from other hosts are granted. In the case of a semi-solid association, a request from another host causes the client to generate a query to the host currently owning the active association. If the host currently owning the association grants a release, a new active association is established between the host and the client. Otherwise, the request from the other host is denied.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for generating and use of a reference signal that allows a receiver to receive position location signals from relatively weak signal generators in the presence of a strong signal source.SOLUTION: Position location reference signals from multiple sources can be synchronized to occur within a scheduled time slot of a time division multiplexed communication system. During the scheduled time slot, each signal source can configure a transmission that includes a media access control address that corresponds to a value reserved for position location signals. Each signal source also configures the transmission to include a position location reference signal that corresponds to the signal source. The position location signals from each of the signal sources is positioned to occur at a time within the data portion of the scheduled time slot when no neighboring signal source transmits its corresponding position location signal.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase linearity of receiver components while minimizing adverse effect upon the battery life.SOLUTION: A wireless communication device 100 may include a component 116 having linearity dependent upon a bias and a processor 108 configured to change the bias in response to the detection of a connection between the wireless communication device and a high-capacity power source 102. A method of operating a wireless communication device having a bias dependent component where the wireless communication device is configured to operate in a high efficiency mode in the absence of a connection between the wireless communication device and a high-capacity power source may include determining whether the high-capacity power source is connected to the wireless communication device, and varying the operation of the bias dependent component on the basis of whether the high-capacity power source is connected to the wireless communication device.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus capable of evaluating the performance of a system for a positioning service regarding network scheduling and deployment of a positioning network.SOLUTION: In order to add a mobile unit positioning performance to a radio communication system, several different approaches are taken, these approaches include not only satellite system technologies but also terrestrial wave technologies, such different approaches are evaluated and compared in association with a specific existent or proposed system for radio communication.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for a sequentially synchronized network. SOLUTION: A method and apparatus for generating sequentially synchronized timing and frequency in a communication network includes: a parent station 12 for maintaining the system time and frequency values; time/frequency transfer units 13a, 13b, 13c for receiving and demodulating the system time and frequency values from the parent station 12 and generating corrected system time and frequency values, by adjusting a clock and the center frequency of a pilot signal at child stations 16a, 16b for removing the time and frequency discrepancies; and the child stations 16a, 16b to which the time/frequency transfer unit directly communicates the corrected system and frequency values. The child stations 16a, 16b become the parent station 12 when the corrected system time and frequency values are communicated. The sequence can be repeated by the number of stations arranged in the network. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
