PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide techniques for adjusting one or more antenna parameters to optimize performance of a wireless device.SOLUTION: A variable antenna match unit 210 is provided with a control signal 210a for selecting a preferred antenna match setting. The preferred antenna match setting may correspond to a setting having a highest signal quality metric. In another embodiment, in order to accommodate multiple antennas, a variable antenna electrical length module 375 is provided with a control signal 375a for selecting a preferred antenna electrical length.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content collection system for providing a content object to a web browser. SOLUTION: The content collection system includes a user's management device (CPE), a gateway distant from the CPE, and a satellite line for connecting those together. The CPE includes the first cache, and the gateway includes the second cache. A parameterization filter masks a difference between the first URI of the content object and the second URI of a cached content object stored in at least one of the first and second caches, in at least one of the CPE and the gateway. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method providing a location base service to form a social network.SOLUTION: The system and the method of the location base service for a target advertisement include: a step of starting a function from a radio terminal; a step of registering from the radio terminal to the service of the location base related to the function; a step of creating a user profile of the function; and a step of displaying an advertisement based on the user profile and a geographical location of the radio terminal. A global positioning system is used to position the user with an active function and a sponsor of the advertisement geographically. The advertisement is displayed based on the geographical location of the sponsor of the advertisement and the radio terminal displayed on an activity map.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a location based service for forming a social network. SOLUTION: The location based service for forming a social network includes: activating a function from a wireless terminal 701; registering from the wireless terminal 701 with a location based service associated with the function; creating a profile 709 of a user of the function; and displaying advertising based on the user profile 709 and based on the geographic location of the wireless terminal 701. A Global Positioning System (GPS) may be used to geographically locate active users of a function and sponsors of advertising. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a wireless device to provide location data concerning an object by use of geolocation in order to provide distance tracking and local location techniques in order to provide local tracking.SOLUTION: The geolocation and local location techniques may be implemented at the same time or individually, reconfigurable on-demand, in both the tracking and tracked devices. The tracked wireless device includes a wireless communication circuit capable of communication with a multiuser wireless subscriber network. A geolocation reading circuit provides GPS or similar location data and is capable of obtaining geolocation data concerning the object. A local locating device parses local location data, and an indication is provided of geolocation based on the geolocation data, and is further responsive to the local location data which is used to modify the geolocation data with the local location data.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide location data concerning a target object by a wireless device capable of communication with a multiuser wireless subscriber network.SOLUTION: Geolocation and local location techniques may be incorporated at the same time or individually in both a location tracking device and a location tracked device and reconfigurable on demand. The location tracked wireless device includes a wireless communication circuit capable of communication with a multiuser wireless subscriber network. A geolocation reading circuit provides GPS or similar location data, and is capable of obtaining geolocation data concerning the target object. A local locating device parses local location data, and an indication of geolocation is provided based on the geolocation data. The local locating device is further responsive to the local location data which is used to modify the geolocation data with the local location data.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless device having configurable operation modes for using a wireless device in particular environments.SOLUTION: A wireless device having user-defined configurable modes includes a memory having at least one configuration segment containing configuration information relating to at least one application or mode. When a user enters the user-defined configuration, a control processor configures the wireless device on the basis of the configuration information. To facilitate operation, the above aspects may be incorporated into operation such that a single key stroke or key operation implements a configuration change.

A mobile access point is disclosed. The mobile access point includes a terminal module configured to provide one or more terminal functions for use by a user, the one or more terminal functions including a voice or data communications application, and a gateway module configured to provide one or more gateway functions for use by at least one client device, the one or more gateway functions including providing the at least one client device access to a computer network, and a processor configured to execute the terminal module and the gateway module to effectuate their corresponding functions.
