Un procedimiento (82) de medición para un sistema de comunicación inalámbrica, que comprende: hacer funcionar (84) un dispositivo inalámbrico en una primera tecnología de comunicación inalámbrica; identificar un grupo de frecuencias de una segunda tecnología de comunicación inalámbrica a buscar para la reselección celular, en el que se prefiere la segunda tecnología de comunicación inalámbrica con relación a la primera tecnología de comunicación inalámbrica; detectar (86) una célula en uno de los grupos de frecuencias de la segunda tecnología de comunicación inalámbrica; determinar (88) que la célula detectada de la segunda tecnología de comunicación inalámbrica satisface un primer criterio de reselección basado en una primera medición; programar una pluralidad de nuevas mediciones para el grupo de frecuencias de la segunda tecnología de comunicación inalámbrica utilizando un modo de periodicidad de medición rápida en respuesta a la célula detectada de la segunda tecnología de comunicación inalámbrica que satisface el primer criterio de reselección, en el que el modo de periodicidad de medición rápida incluye aumentar un frecuencia de medición del grupo de frecuencias de la segunda tecnología de comunicación inalámbrica de modo que la pluralidad de nuevas mediciones en cada frecuencia del grupo de frecuencias se produzca antes de una expiración de un período de tiempo de reselección; y reseleccionar una nueva célula en uno de los grupos de frecuencias de la segunda tecnología de comunicación inalámbrica cuando las nuevas mediciones correspondientes a la nueva célula en uno de los grupos de frecuencias satisfacen un segundo criterio de reselección y el segundo criterio de reselección se satisface durante el período de tiempo de reselección, en el que satisfacer el segundo criterio de reselección durante el período de tiempo de reselección incluye observar mediciones consecutivas correspondientes a la nueva célula en uno de los grupos de frecuencias usando la periodicidad de medición rápida.

Apparatus and method for wireless communication in a wireless communication network include operating a wireless device on a first wireless communication technology and detecting a first cell in first frequency of a second wireless communication technology. The aspects also include determining the detected cell of the second wireless communication technology satisfies a first reselection criterion based on a first measurement and identifying a second frequency of the second wireless communication technology as an undetected frequency based on monitoring the second frequency without detecting a second cell. Aspects also include expediting a determination of whether to perform cell reselection to the second wireless communication technology based on the undetected frequency and the detected cell of the second wireless communication technology satisfying the first reselection criterion and determining to reselect to the detected cell of the second wireless communication technology.

The present disclosure presents a method and apparatus for determining reselection parameters for detected cells. For example the method may include receiving system information block (SIB) data associated with one or more cells in a neighbor cell list (NCL). In such example the SIB data may include a ranking offset parameter associated with each of the NCL cells. Furthermore such an example method may include detecting a cell that is not in the NCL determining a reselection ranking value associated with each of the NCL cells the detected cell and the serving cell. In addition in some examples such method may include ranking the one or more NCL cells the detected cell and the serving cell in a ranking list based on the reselection ranking values. As such reselection parameters for detected cells may be determined.
