Abstract: Several methods and corresponding apparatus reduce multiple access interference in code division multiple access communications systems (100) through successive interference cancellation techniques. An estimate of reliability of cancellation of a strongest interfering signal is formed from analysis of a pilot signal associated with the strongest signal. The estimate is used to derive a weight that is multiplied by a replica of the strongest signal to provide a weighted replica. The weighted replica is subtracted from a delayed version of the received channel. As a result, interference cancellation is robustly implemented when the strongest signal replica is most likely to be accurate and is not robustly implemented when the strongest signal replica is not likely to be accurate.; This avoids combining a replica of the strongest signal with the received channel when the replica is more likely to contribute additional interference rather than reduce it.

Abstract: Método para reducir la interferencia de acceso múltiple entre señales de comunicación transmitidas, en un sistema de comunicación compuesto de una estación base (106) y una pluralidad de estaciones de usuario (102, 108) que intercambian señales de comunicación entre la estación base (106) y cada una de la pluralidad de estaciones de usuario (102, 108); dicho método comprende: recibir (204, 302, 304, 400 a 420) una pluralidad de señales de acceso múltiple por división de código; hallar (216, 402) una primera señal de la pluralidad de señales de acceso múltiple por división de código que tenga la mayor amplitud; recibir (204, 302, 304, 400 a 420) una primera señal piloto asociada a la primera señal; determinar (402, 410) parámetros desde la primera señal piloto; decodificar (402, 410) primeros datos de la primera señal: construir (404, 408) una primera réplica de la primera señal desde los primeros datos; combinar (414) la primera réplica con parámetros derivados de la primera señal piloto para suministrar una primera señal sustractiva; y restar (418) la primera señal sustractiva de la pluralidad de señales de acceso múltiple por división de código para suministrar una primera pluralidad reducida de señales de acceso múltiple por división de código, en donde combinar (414) la primera réplica con parámetros derivados de la primera señal piloto para suministrar una primera señal sustractiva comprende: determinar (410) una amplitud de la primera señal piloto; normalizar (410) la amplitud de la primera señal piloto para suministrar una primera amplitud normalizada: derivar (412) un peso de la primera amplitud normalizada; y multiplicar (414) la primera réplica por el peso.
