Abstract:
Systems and methods for packet acknowledgement are disclosed. In one embodiment, codewords are redundantly used in order to decrease the total number of bits required for feeding back acknowledgment information or in order to increase the Euclidean space between codewords.
Abstract:
A cell identification method is provided. The method includes determining a reception state in a wireless device and comparing a reception cycle to a subframe parameter in the wireless device. The method also includes identifying a subsequent wireless cell within a predetermined time of the comparison.
Abstract:
A wireless communication system transmits in a High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) by having a Radio Network Controller (RNC) assign portions of data to a first serving cell and a second serving cell for transmitting to a user equipment. The first serving cell transmits data on a first downlink carrier to the user equipment. The second serving cell, which is independent from the first serving cell, transmits data on a second downlink carrier to the user equipment. In an optional aspect, the RNC receives a measurement report from the user equipment on a first uplink carrier via at least one of the first serving cell and the second serving cell.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses are provided for uplink MIMO transmissions in a wireless communication system. In some particular aspects, scheduling of the uplink MIMO transmissions may make a determination between single stream, rank=1 transmissions and dual stream, rank=2 transmissions based on various factors. Further, when switching between single and dual stream transmissions in the presence of HARQ retransmissions of failed packets, the scheduling function may determine to transmit the HARQ retransmissions on a single stream transmission or to transmit the HARQ retransmissions on one stream while transmitting new packets on the other stream.
Abstract:
Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate equalizing inter-sector interference and performing interference cancellation on a forward link by utilizing a combination of pilot interference cancellation followed by selective interference cancellation. Selective interference cancellation can be performed using, for instance, a reduced-rank minimum mean-squared error multi-user detection receiver. A system matrix can be reduced by the combined cancellation protocols, and can be further reduced by performing a fast Hadamard transform there on, which in turn can minimize matrix complexity, as well as computational overhead associated with processing the system matrix.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for bundling signals in a wireless communication system are disclosed. A connection request and a reservation for QoS resources can be bundled into an access message at an access terminal. The access message with the bundled communication signals can then be transmitted to an access network. An application layer (e.g., a DataOverSignaling (DOS)) message can also be bundled with the connection request and the reservation into the access message.
Abstract:
Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate pilot channel optimization schemes for high data rate communications transmissions. In various illustrative implementations, pilot channel operations can be monitored and controlled by an exemplary base station for one or more cooperating wireless terminals (e.g., user equipment) such that one or more power features of the one or more cooperating wireless terminals can be illustratively changed in response to one or more selected pilot channel operational conditions. In an illustrative operation, an exemplary base station can engage one or more selected pilot channel control operations as part of pilot channel optimization comprising a jump detection technique, operating power control on another channel other than the DPCCH, engaging in delayed power control, engaging in a soft-hand off power control in the instance of a boosted pilot channel, and resolving ambiguity in grant messages resulting from a pilot boost.
Abstract:
Scrambling/OVSF codes are varied with a TD-CDMA slot to overcome jamming effects by a dominant interferer. Interference is detected and a scambling code sequence is varied and employed to multiply a Walsh code assigned to a user device within a transmission time slot.
Abstract:
An apparatus, method, and computer program product operable to determine a phase of a beamforming weight vector utilizing a memory of a previously used phase for the beamforming weight vector, capable of improving a channel estimate. A base station (320) transmits a beamforming weight vector to a user equipment (310) based on a determined channel estimate. The user equipment (310) selects between the received beamforming weight vector, or a modified beamforming weight vector having its phase shifted by -360, in accordance with a suitable selection criteria. That is, the selection is made such that a difference between the phase of the selected beamforming vector and a phase of a prior beamforming vector is within a predetermined range.
Abstract:
A base station receiver (610), a computer program product operable at a base station (600), and a method operable at a base station receiver (610), for receiving uplink transmit diversity transmissions utilizing a master/ slave scheme at the receiver (610). One or more tracking loops, such as a searcher task, a time tracking loop, or a frequency tracking loop may be implemented at the base station receiver (610) to determine compensation values, such as finger timings for a rake receiver or frequency compensation values, in accordance with characteristics of a primary pilot channel (514) transmitted utilizing a first precoding weight vector. Here, corresponding compensation values may be derived for the reception of a secondary pilot channel (520) transmitted utilizing a precoding weight vector orthogonal to the first precoding weight vector, simply based on those determined for the primary pilot channel (514). That is, the compensation value assignment for receiving the second pilot channel may act as a slave to its master, being the
