Abstract:
A method includes determining, at an electronic device, information associated with a location of the first electronic device. An initial set of television white space channels is filtered based on the information to generate a search set of television white space channels. A passive scan of the search set of television white space channels is performed at the electronic device to identify a television white space access point.
Abstract:
A method includes transmitting a packet from a first wireless device to a second wireless device, where data within the packet is encoded and a signal representing the packet is modulated in accordance with a modulation and coding scheme (MCS). The method also includes, responsive to receiving an acknowledgement packet that includes a MCS change indicator from the second wireless device via a wireless local area network (WLAN) in response to transmitting the packet, maintaining the MCS when the MCS change indicator has a first value and incrementing the MCS when the MCS has a second value.

Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices to enable range extension for wireless communication in sub-gigahertz bands are described herein. In some aspects, portions of packets are repeated in time and/or space when transmitting the packet in order to increase the chance that the packet can be decoded. The repetition of portions of the packet may be based, in part, on the channel characteristics of the channel over which the packet is sent. In some aspects, portions of packets are transmitted over a smaller bandwidth with increased power per frequency range.

Abstract:
Systems and methods for communicating packets having a plurality of formats are described herein. In some aspects, a signal (SIG) field in the preamble of a packet may indicate whether an extension field, such as an extension SIG field or SIG-B field, is included in the packet. In another aspect, one or more detectors may be used to auto-detect packets formatted as one of at least two different formats based on a short training field (STF) of a received packet. In some aspects, along training field (LTF) in the preamble of a packet may indicate whether the payload is repetition coded.

Abstract:
Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate enhanced aggregation of management frames in a wireless communication system. Various aspects described herein provide for the encapsulation of management frames into respective data frames, thereby allowing management frames to be aggregated with data frames. Upon aggregation of an encapsulated management frame with data frames, the aggregated frames can be transmitted to one or more stations using a block acknowledgement scheme. Further, information contained in a management frame can be encrypted prior to transmission. Upon transmission of an aggregated frame, indications can be provided to a receiving station to indicate the presence of an encapsulated management frame and/or encrypted management information within the aggregated frame. Based on these indications, the receiving station can extract and/or decrypt the management information from the aggregated frame.
