Abstract:
Techniques are provided for radio frequency (RF) sensing using a single wireless device. An example method for determining a distance to an object with radio frequency sensing includes transmitting a radio frequency signal with a transmit channel on a wireless device, receiving a leakage signal with a receive channel on the wireless device at a first time, such that the leakage signal is based on the radio frequency signal, receiving a reflected signal with the receive channel on the wireless device at a second time, such that the reflected signal is based on the radio frequency signal reflecting from the object, and determining the distance to the object based at least in part on a difference between the first time and the second time.
Abstract:
Various methods and apparatuses for channel selection based on energy levels are disclosed. In one aspect, an apparatus for communication is disclosed, the apparatus comprising a processing system configured to determine, for each of one or more channels, a plurality of energy levels of a respective plurality of signals received via a respective plurality of beam directions and to select one of the channels based on the determined energy levels and a transceiver configured to communicate over the selected channel.
Abstract:
In a particular embodiment, a method includes applying a first stream to antenna mapping scheme to a preamble portion of a packet. The method further includes applying a second stream to antenna mapping scheme to a data portion of the packet. The second stream to antenna mapping scheme is applied to the data portion of the packet but not to the preamble portion of the packet. The second stream to antenna mapping scheme includes a circulation scheme or a cyclic delay diversity (CDD) scheme.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques for achieving adaptive channel state information (CSI) feedback rate in multi-user communication systems. A rate by which CSI feedback can be transmitted from each user station of a wireless system to a serving access point may be adjusted based on evolution of a channel between that user station and the access point.
Abstract:
A method for generating a Physical Layer Convergence Protocol Packet Data Unit (PPDU) having a preamble and a payload for television white space transmission (TVWS) is provided. The symbols of the PPDU each include 128 total (orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing) OFDM tones or 256 total OFDM tones. The preamble includes a signal (SIG) field symbol having 108 OFDM data tones if the symbols of the PPDU include 128 total OFDM tones or having 234 OFDM data tones if the symbols of the PPDU include 256 total OFDM tones. The SIG field symbol indicates at least one of an amount of data in the payload or a length of time that the PPDU will occupy the television broadcast frequency spectrum. The PPDU is generated by down-clocking an 802.11ac signal by a factor so that the bandwidth of the PPDU decreases down to one appropriate for use in a TVWS channel.
Abstract:
In a downlink multi-user multiple input multiple output (DL MU-MIMO) system, channel state information (CSI) feedback duration may strongly affect media access control (MAC) efficiency. While a time domain compression may give a significant reduction in feedback duration, the time domain compression may have complexity issues at the station (STA). In particular, for time domain compression, a large complex matrix multiplication may be required at the client to estimate a cyclic prefix (CP) length impulse response, which best models the frequency response of the channel. Embodiments of the invention comprise a hybrid scheme that may reduce the above complexity while maintaining significant compression gains.

Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for acknowledging communications from a plurality of devices are described herein. In some aspects, a group ACK includes a bitmap indicating whether a communication has been received from each of a plurality of apparatuses within a previous period. The previous period may comprise a time period since a previous ACK. In some aspects, group ACKs are transmitted pursuant to a schedule. For example, group ACKs may be transmitted a scheduled time after transmitting a beacon. In some aspects, a bitmap indicating whether a communication has been received from each of a plurality of apparatuses within a previous period may be transmitted in a beacon.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method are disclosed for effectively and efficiently arbitrating concurrent usage between WLAN and Bluetooth access technologies for co-located wireless devices. A state level arbiter determines state and relevant parameters of a WLAN module and of a Bluetooth module of a wireless transceiver unit. The state level arbiter uses the state and relevant parameters to determine which access technology (WLAN or Bluetooth) or combination of the access technologies (WLAN or Bluetooth) will provide the best concurrent performance for wireless transmissions at a given time for specific Bluetooth states and WLAN states.
