Abstract:
The apparatus and methods described herein are used to provide a communication quality feedback of an end-to-end communication path between an application transmitter and an application receiver. One method includes transmitting data from the application transmitter to the application receiver via the end-to-end communication path, the end-to-end communication path having at least one wireless link with a wireless transmitter and a wireless receiver, generating, at the wireless transmitter, a first communication quality feedback message, and transmitting the first communication quality feedback message from the wireless transmitter to the application transmitter in a standardized format.
Abstract:
Wireless communications systems and methods related to allocating resource blocks and resource block groups in a system band in order to reduce overhead associated with resource allocation. To reduce overhead, the wireless communication device communicates a signal in a control channel that indicates a general area and a resource block in the general area that stores data. The wireless communication device then communicates multiple resource blocks that include the resource block and communicates the data in the resource block using the signal. To reduce overhead, the wireless communication device also communicates multiple mappings for each resource block group into a set of resource blocks and a signal in a control channel that selects one of the multiple mappings. The communication device then determines resource blocks that are included in the resource block group according to the mapping, and communicates data in these resource blocks.
Abstract:
The apparatus and methods described herein are used to provide data between an application and a modem. One method includes providing data in application data units from the application to the modem, transmitting the data from the modem to a receiver, and reporting by the modem to the application, whether each application data unit has been successfully transmitted from the modem to the receiver.

Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that provide for the indication of communication information using a correlation between synchronization signals transmitted by a base station for cell acquisition. The communication information may include a physical channel timing parameter such as synchronization periodicity, a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) periodicity, a beam sweep periodicity, or a cyclic prefix (CP) type. Communication information may also indicate the presence of a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) transmission or a mobility reference signal (MRS) transmission. The correlation may be a phase shift between multiple signals or may be based on precoding matrices used during transmission processing of the synchronization signals across subcarriers and antenna ports.
Abstract:
In wireless communication systems that support 5G or NR protocols, subframes used for communication may have different numerology options. Numerology options may refer to the characteristics of the subframe such as a tone spacing within each symbol of the subframe, a symbol duration for each symbol of the subframe, a number of symbols in the subframe, etc. A subframe may include a control channel (e.g., the PDCCH) and a data channel (e.g., the PDSCH). In an aspect, the control channel and the data channel within the subframe may have different numerologies. As such, a need exists to signal the numerology of the subframe to users and to determine whether and how to multiplex the control channel and the data channel into the subframe.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for updating symbol information in a communication device with hardware such as a microcontroller are disclosed. The disclosed apparatus and methods employ waiting for the beginning of a symbol in a sample stream at a predetermined time. One or more programmed instructions are read at the beginning of the symbol, and then symbol information is updated based on the one or more programmable instructions and setting a time for a beginning of a next symbol. The programmed instructions consist of instruction code words that are executed by a dedicated microcontroller or similar hardware, which affords flexibility for updating symbol information, particularly for multimode communication devices operable across multiple communication technologies.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may report a phase-noise compensation reference signal (PCRS) configuration to a base station to enable per-UE PCRS signaling. For example, a UE may operate in a wireless communications system using carrier frequencies greater than 6 GHz, which may be affected by phase noise. The UE may accordingly determine a PCRS configuration based on a capability to receive signals. The PCRS configuration may include a resource mapping for one or more PCRS, a number of PCRS ports used for PCRS, a multiplexing scheme for one or more PCRS ports, or the UE's phase noise estimation capability. The UE may then transmit a reporting message including the PCRS configuration to a base station. The base station may use the PCRS configuration for PCRS transmissions to the UE.
Abstract:
In aspects, a user equipment may be configured to determine a preconfigured frequency band that is less than an available system bandwidth. The UE may be further configured to perform an initial access procedure with a base station using the preconfigured frequency band. The initial access procedure may include a random access channel (RACH) procedure.
