Abstract:
In some examples, a method and apparatus for wireless communication are disclosed. A wireless user equipment (UE) may receive an over-the-air tone pilot and apply the received pilot to a mixer. The mixer may mix the pilot with a local tone to generate a baseband signal. Here, the UE may determine an estimate of one or more parameters corresponding to a residual side band (RSB) in the baseband signal resulting from the mixer, and may accordingly apply the estimated one or more parameters to compensate for the RSB. The estimated RSB parameters may be refreshed online, by taking samples of the over-the-air tone pilot at a suitable refresh rate.
Abstract:
Aspects of the disclosure are directed to a method, apparatus, and computer software for wireless communication. In various examples, a method of wireless communication performed by a user equipment (UE) includes measuring channel quality over a measurement period associated with a voice call corresponding to a first subscription supported by the user equipment, determining whether the channel quality is sufficient to enable an adaptive multi-rate (AMR) decoder to ignore one or more bursts of a plurality of bursts carrying a block of data received at the user equipment, and causing the adaptive multi-rate decoder to decode the block of data without the one or more bursts when the channel quality is determined to be sufficient to enable the adaptive multi-rate decoder to ignore the one or more bursts. The channel quality may be measured by measuring a bit error rate for a transmission on a slow associated control channel (SACCH).
Abstract:
Access terminals are adapted to facilitate data block decoding, where a header may be decoded while a data payload is not decoded. According to one example, an access terminal can convey information from an upper layer of a protocol stack to a physical layer of the protocol stack. The conveyed information can be adapted to cause the physical layer to bypass decoding a data payload for one or more received data blocks. On receipt of a data block, a header of the received data block can be decoded at the physical layer without decoding a data payload for the received data block. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.
Abstract:
The various embodiments include a dual-SIM-dual-active (DSDA)device and methods for implementing robust transmit (Tx) processing to resolve radio frequency coexistence interference between two subscriptions operating on the DSDA device. The DSDA device may detect when one subscription (the "aggressor") de-senses the other subscription (the "victim") as a result of the aggressor's transmissions, and in response, implement robust Tx processing to mitigate the effects of de-sense on the victim.
Abstract:
A method for wireless communication is described. A slow associated control channel block is received. It is determined that the slow associated control channel block fails an integrity check. A correlation level between the slow associated control channel block and one or more stored slow associated control channel blocks is determined. The stored slow associated control channel blocks are set based on a maximum correlation level. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
Abstract:
A method for midamble estimation comprises the steps of receiving a burst of symbols, selecting a subset of the burst of symbols that comprises a first midamble symbol, calculating, for each symbol in the subset, a corresponding midamble estimation error, and determining the lowest calculated midamble estimation error to locate the first midamble symbol. A receiver comprises an antenna configured to receive a burst of symbols, a timing estimator configured to select a subset of the burst of symbols that comprises a first midamble symbol, a midamble estimator configured to calculate, for each symbol in the subset, a corresponding midamble estimation error, and a processor configured to select the symbol in the subset corresponding to a lowest calculated midamble estimation error as the first midamble symbol.
Abstract:
Access terminals are adapted to blacklist one or more neighboring cells from acquisition attempts. For instance, an access terminal may receive a transmission including a list of neighboring cells to be monitored while connected to a particular serving cell. The access terminal may determine that a predefined number of consecutive acquisition attempts with a particular neighboring cell have failed. In response to failure of the predefined number of consecutive acquisition attempts, the access terminal can blacklist the neighboring cell from subsequent acquisition attempts for a predefined blacklisting period. Following the duration of the blacklisting period, the access terminal may conduct a subsequent acquisition attempt with the neighboring cell. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
Abstract:
A method for performing cell reselection by a wireless communication device is described. The method includes monitoring one or more neighbor cells of a same radio access technology (e. g., GSM) as a serving cell while camped on the serving cell; determining that reselection criteria (e. g., C1 and C2) is met for a target cell; starting a reselection timer for the target cell; on timer expiry, determining whether to perform reselection to the target cell based on a target cell signal to noise ratio (SNR) and a serving cell SNR measured while the timer was running. Optionally, the method also includes adding a penalty time to the reselection timer if the target cell SNR is less than a threshold or less than the serving cell SNR.
Abstract:
Access terminals are adapted to receive and transmit data during one or more frames in a multiframe. Power measurements for a neighboring cell can be scheduled during one or more frames not intended for power measurements. In some examples, the one or more frames not intended for power measurements can include an Idle frame and/or a Packet Timing Advance Control Channel (PTCCH) frame in a 52-frame multiframe structure, as well as an Idle frame and/or a Slow Associated Control Channel (SACCH) frame in a 26-frame multiframe structure. Some access terminals may be adapted for facilitating multiple subscriptions, and may operate at least substantially simultaneously in a Connected mode subscription and an Idle mode subscription. In such instances, a neighboring cell for which power measurements are performed may be associated with the Connected mode subscription and/or the Idle mode subscription. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
