Abstract:
Apparatus and method for power management in a wireless communication network include identifying a user equipment (UE) configuration as a stationary extra-long battery device configuration, receiving a measurement threshold adjustment message, and adjusting an idle mode cell measurement threshold based on the measurement threshold adjustment message.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods are described herein for optimizing wireless communications using radio resource control (RRC) combining. An RRC request message includes a non-access stratum (NAS) service request. An RRC connection setup message can then be provided including a combination of information for configuring the RRC connection.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in which a user equipment performs an inter-radio access technology (RAT) mobility procedure from a first network to a second network while idle mode signaling reduction (ISR) is active, locally deactivates (ISR) in connection with completion of the inter-RAT mobility procedure, and initiates a location management procedure in the second network. Depending on the respective type of the first and second network, and the connection state of the (UE) with respect to the first network, the mobility procedure may be performed in response to a mobility command received from the first network, or in response to a mobility condition of the first network as detected by the (UE).
Abstract:
In one aspect, the disclosure provides for the utilization of an EPS QoS parameter in a PDP context for a UMTS network. Another aspect of the disclosure provides for the utilization of an aggregate maximum bit rate (AMBR) parameter, rather than the conventional maximum bit rate (MBR) parameter, of a QoS profile, for restricting the bit rate corresponding to a PDP context in a UMTS network.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for power management comprise detecting, at a user equipment (UE), a state transition trigger, wherein the state transition trigger indicates a current data transmission termination or an anticipated data transmission termination. Further, the methods and apparatus comprise sending a state transition indication to the network entity in response to detecting the state transition trigger. Moreover, the methods and apparatus comprise adjusting a state of the UE based at least in part on sending the state transition indication to the network entity.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for wireless communication in a mobile device that includes transmitting a radio resource control (RRC) request message, wherein the RRC request message includes a non-access stratum (NAS) service request. Aspects of the methods and apparatus include receiving an RRC connection setup message comprising information for configuring an RRC connection. Aspects of the methods and apparatus also include transmitting an RRC connection setup completion message acknowledging the instructions for configuring the RRC connection.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in which user equipment initiates a location management procedure after receiving a mobility command and regardless of whether idle mode signaling reduction (ISR) is active when the mobility command is received. The user equipment moves from a first network to a second network in response to the mobility command and sends an update request. The user equipment may autonomously deactivate ISR. The user equipment may generate data for transmitting to a packet data network through the second network if data was not available when the mobility command was received.
Abstract:
Apparatus and method for power management in a wireless communication network include determining a last packet of data transmitted to a network, sending a state transition indication embedded in the last packet to the network, and adjusting a state of a user equipment (UE) in response to sending the state transition indication embedded in the last packet to the network.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for power management in a wireless communication network include identifying a user equipment (UE) configuration as a stationary extra-long battery device configuration. Further, the methods and apparatus include receiving a measurement threshold adjustment message. Moreover, the methods and apparatus include adjusting an idle mode cell measurement threshold based on the measurement threshold adjustment message.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods, apparatus and computer program products for traffic volume reporting during radio access network (RAN) connection setup. In one aspect, the RAN broadcasts an indicator that it accepts traffic volume measurements (TVM) from access terminals (ATs) and an associated TVM threshold. An AT measures its traffic volume before requesting a connection with the RAN. If the traffic volume is above the threshold, AT transmits to the RAN a connection request containing a TVM indicator that the measured traffic volume from the AT is above the threshold. If the traffic volume is below the threshold, AT transmits to the RAN a connection request containing a TVM indicator that the traffic volume is below the threshold.
