    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first device may monitor for a set of reference signals from a second device using a set of directional beams. The first device may perform measurements on the received reference signals and select a subset of directional beams from the set of directional beams based on the performed measurements. Each directional beam may be associated with a set of beamforming weights. The first device may communicate with the second device using a dynamic set of beamforming weights. The first device may form the dynamic set of beamforming weights using a combination of beamforming weights from each set of beamforming weights associated with the subset of directional beams. The dynamic set of beamforming weights may be different from each set of beamforming weights associated with the subset of directional beams.

    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to devices, systems and methods for multi-beam formation. A user equipment (UE) may determine a sampling interval for references signals to be transmitted by a base station for an upcoming control or data communication. For example, the UE may determine a maximum sampling interval tolerable for channel estimation and select the sampling interval based on the maximum. In some examples, the UE determines the sampling interval based on characteristics of its motion. The UE transmits an indication of the sampling interval to the base station. Based on the indication, the base station selects an interval for the reference signals and transmits the reference signals to the UE to enable it to perform the channel estimation for the multi-beam. The base station may determine to select the interval for the reference signals such that it is less than or equal to the sampling interval indicated by the UE.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for reducing a quantity of antenna elements for uplink transmission. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes determining a virtual power headroom (VPHR) associated with uplink transmission for each of a plurality of beams, selecting one or more beams of the plurality of beams for the uplink transmission based on the determination such that the VPHR associated with each of the one or more beams is at least equal to or greater than zero, and indicating a parameter associated with the one or more beams for selection of a beam to be used for the uplink transmission.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for a user equipment (UE) indication of a capability of the UE for the supported number trigger states. A method that may be performed by the UE includes providing an indication to a base station (BS) of a maximum number of aperiodic trigger states supported by the UE. The UE receives a configuration or activation of aperiodic trigger states from the BS in accordance with the indication. A method that may be performed by a BS includes receiving the indication from the UE and providing a configuration or activation of aperiodic trigger states to the UE in accordance with the indication.
