    Abstract: A cleanout system and method for removal of metal debris from a fluid flow, such a flow of re-circulated drilling mud employs one or more magnetic unit positioned in the path of the fluid for collecting metal particles from the flow. The magnetic unit has a removable magnet core positioned in a non-magnetic sleeve. When the core is removed from the sleeve the attracted metal particles are allowed to drop from the sleeve under gravity to facilitate their collection and disposal. A fluid deflector is positioned upstream from each magnetic unit, protecting the magnetic unit from direct impact by the strong flow. The magnetic units are allowed to pivot from side-to-side and adjust their position in the flow.

    Abstract: A tool for retrieving metal debris from a wellbore has a plurality of magnet assemblies spaced longitudinally along a tool body (10). Each magnet assembl y has a magnet member (42), which forms a primary debris settling area (70). Each magnet member is protected by a magnet protector. A secondary debris settling area is formed between a magnet and an adjacent magnet protector to allow utilization of the residual magnetic force created by the magnet members. The secondary settling area occupies at least half of the surface area of the primary settling area.

    Abstract: Se describe un sistema y un metodo de limpieza para la eliminacion de restos metalicos de un flujo de fluido tal como un flujo de cieno de perforacion, utiliza una o mas unidades magneticas colocadas en la trayectoria del fluido para recolectar particulas metalicas metal del flujo. La unidad magnetica tiene un nucleo magnetica desprendible colocado en un mango no magnetico. Cuando el nucleo se retira del mango las particulas metalicas atraidas caen del mango por gravedad para facilitar su recoleccion y desecho. Se coloca un desviador de fluido corriente arriba de cada unidad magnetica protegiendo la unidad magnetica del impacto directo por su parte del flujo fuerte. Se permite que las unidades magneticas giren de lado a lado y ajusten su posicion en el flujo.
