Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform various spectroscopic analyses easily and accurately. SOLUTION: A sample 14 placed under a microscope 48 is illuminated with a laser beam 10. Raman scattering light is passed through a dichromatic filter 18 to various optical components thence returned back to a CCD detector 12. The optical components for Raman spectral analysis include an adjustable dielectric filter in a filter wheel 84, a Fabry-Perot etalon 82 and a diffraction grating 60. Various optical components, including movable mirrors 74, 76, may be employed in order to provide a desired optical path with flexibility depending on different analytical procedures being employed in a spectrometer.

By movable mirrors 74, 76, the optical constitutional element may be replaced with a desired light path providing flexibility to various different analyzing procedures to a spectroscopic apparatus to be used. Various novel analyzing methods are also described.
