Abstract: A mask assembly includes a frame 90, a cushion adapted to form a seal with the patient's face, and an intervening clip 70 that connects the cushion to the frame. The clip includes three clip portions 72, 74, 76 to engage corresponding portions 92 of the frame and a flange 78 extending around the perimeter and having three cut outs 80 adjacent the clip portions. The flange 78 engages within a retaining recess 96 of the cushion and the three cut outs interlock with a respective solid section 98 provided within the retaining recess 96.
