    Abstract: 595423 Disclosed is a mask assembly to supply breathable gas to a patient with adjustable forehead supports for improved comfort and sealing. The mask assembly comprises a mask frame; a cushion provided to the mask frame; and a forehead support. The forehead support comprises a frame connector extending from an upper portion of the mask frame and having an outer housing and an internal ring supported within the outer housing; an actuator disposed on the frame connector; and a forehead cushion support. The forehead cushion support comprises at least one forehead cushion support plate to carry at least one forehead cushion; and a tube having a distal end and a proximal end, the proximal end attached to the at least one forehead cushion support plate, the tube slidably attached to the frame connector along a linear adjustment path defined by the internal ring such that at least the distal end of the tube is enclosed within the housing in an extended position and a retracted position. At least two protrusions and at least two corresponding keyways are configured to prevent the tube from rotating about its longitudinal axis within the ring between the extended position and the retracted position. The actuator adjustably secures the tube to the frame connector along the linear adjustment path. Position markings are provided on the tube to indicate a position of the tube and include artwork formed by pad-printing, etching, laser-etching, and/or in-mold decoration.

    Abstract: 608762 Disclosed is a forehead support for a breathing or CPAP mask assembly to allow a better fit of the mask to the user. The forehead support comprises a frame connector provided to a mask frame and a forehead cushion support plate having a tube. The forehead cushion support plate is linearly adjustable with respect to the frame connector along a longitudinal axis of the tube between retracted and extended positions. At least two protrusions and at least two corresponding keyways are adapted to prevent rotation of the forehead cushion support plate about the longitudinal axis of the tube with respect to the frame connector. An actuator is disposed on the frame connector configured to adjustably secure the forehead cushion support plate to the frame connector. Spaced position markings are provided on the tube, and at least one of the position markings is numbered and at least one of the position markings is unnumbered.

    Abstract: A forehead support (12) for a mask assembly (10) includes a frame connector (20) provided to a mask frame (14), a forehead cushion support (60) movably mounted to the frame connector (20) for generally linear movement between retracted and extended positions with respect to the frame connector (20), and an adjustment knob (40) movably mounted to the frame connector (40) and threadably engaged with the forehead cushion support (60) such that turning movement of the adjustment knob (40) causes the forehead cushion support (60) to be moved between the retracted and extended positions. The adjustment knob (40), forehead cushion support (60), and frame connector (20) are constructed and arranged such that the over-rotation of the adjustment knob (40) beyond the extended position of the forehead cushion support (60) is adapted to release the adjustment knob (40) from the forehead cushion support (60) and the frame connecter (20).
