Abstract:
Aqueous coating compositions containing (1) a first polymer containing reactive functional groups with a selected level of carboxylic acid functionality and (2) a polyfunctional crosslinker agent containing functional groups that are reactive with appropriate functional groups of the first polymer, are disclosed. The two-component polymer compositions provide a combination of durability and ready removability of the final coating after curing. Two-component polymer compositions based on the first polymer containing hydroxyl functionality in addition to carboxylic acid functionality and use of a polyisocyanate as the polyfunctional crosslinker agent are especially useful as floor polish compositions.

A coating composition is described comprising a multi-stage emulsion polymer that is both radiation curable, removable and includes chemically reactive functional groups in the coating that react with one or more conventional chemical stripping agents, effecting the removal of the coating from a substrate. The UV curable and removable composition is included within one or more layers applied on top of a substrate or on top of a base coat that itself is disposed on top of a substrate.
Abstract:
An exterior finishing composition is provided containing a polymer which includes hydrophobic monomers as polymerized units, and a rheology modifier. The exterior finishing composition is useful as a basecoat and as a topcoat in multilayered exterior wall systems. Also provided is a method of coating a vertical surface with the exterior finishing composition.

A polymer composition comprising an aqueous suspension or dispersion of a water insoluble polymer of ethylenically unsaturated monomers, said polymer having a Tg of at least 35°C and 25% to 65% by weight units of iso-butyl methacrylate (IBMA) and n-butyl methacrylate (BMA) , and 3% to 50% by weight units of at least one acidic monomer. Floor polish compositions comprising said polymer may have improved repeatable high speed burnish response.

There is provided an aqueous liquid domestic composition comprising (i) one or more active component selected from the group consisting of (A) 3% to 50% by weight, based on the total solids weight of said domestic composition, one or more softening agent, (B) 2% to 90% by weight, based on the total solids weight of said domestic composition, one or more anionic surfactant, and (C) a mixture consisting of (I) 1% to 25% by weight, based on the total solids weight of said domestic composition, one or more softening agent, and (II) 5% to 75% by weight, based on the total solids weight of said domestic composition, one or more anionic surfactant, and
(D) 0.1%to 30% by weight, based on the total solids weight of said domestic composition, one or more amphoteric compound; and(ii) one or more cationic polymer latex comprising (I) 0.5% to 6% by weight, based on the dry weight of said polymer, one or more cationic monomer, (II) 30% to 99.5 by weight, based on the dry weight of said polymer, polymerized units of one or more aromatic monomer, (III) optionally, polymerized units of one or more additional monomer.
Also provided is a method of treating paper with such cationic polymer latices.

(a) at least one aqueous polymer dispersion, wherein said polymer is formed from a monomer mix comprising one or more carboxylic acid functional monomers; (b) at least one swelling agent; and (c) at least one polyvalent metal ion; wherein said composition is formed by a process comprising the step of forming a preliminary admixture of said dispersion (a) with some or all of said swelling agent (b), wherein the ratio of equivalents of polyvalent metal ions in said preliminary admixture to equivalents of carboxylic acid functional groups in said preliminary admixture is 0.25 or less.
