Abstract: A pipette comprising a slender tube and a flexible bulb designed for squeezing to draw liquid into the tube or expel it from the tube is constructed with these two components, the bulb and the tube, integrally joined together. The tube is pref. a cylindrical capillary tube and may taper to a constriction at its junction with the bulb and/or to its open end. The tube may have markings on it to indicate specific volumes. The volume of the elastic bulb may be greater than or approx. equal to that of the capillary tube itself. With this arrangement, no auxiliary equipment for providing a vacuum is required and it is not possible to run any risk by sucking with the mouth since the bulb end is permanently closed.
