Abstract: PURPOSE: To constitute a wet cylinder liner so that deformation of the cylinder liner and a hole of a cylinder block through which the cylinder liner is to be inserted may be restrained to the minimum extent and so that deformation may be generated on the other part not hardly causing harm. CONSTITUTION: A contact area 60 of between a bearing protrusion 44 provided on a cylinder block hole wall and a supporting protrusion 46 provided on the outer periphery of a cylinder liner is provided in the dead bottom center of a lower gas sealing piston ring 38, a cylinder liner 12 has the upper part surrounded with at least one cooling medium passages 50 or 52, and the cylinder liner 12 is also surrounded with an air cooling medium space 56 extending downward to the contact area 60 independently of the passages.
