    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the performance of a cathode assembly by manufacturing a pellet type cermet as a thermion emitting means. SOLUTION: A cathode assembly consists of a themion emitting means 31 and filaments 32, and the thermion emitting means 31 is a cermet pellet containing chromium silicide (Cr3 Si) and silicon dioxide (SiO2 ) in the weight ratio of 1:1 to 1:9, and having a diameter of about 0.9-1.5mm. One end of the filament 32 comes in contact with the thermion emitting means 31 and supports the thermion emitting means 31. The other end of the filament 32 is connected by welding to a lead wire, and current is supplied to the thermion emitting means 31 through the lead wire to directly heat the thermion emitting means 31.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a negative electrode for an electron tube which improves significantly shortening the life, which is a problem with existing oxide negative electrodes and, at the same time, can be manufactured by a method which is 100% compatible with a manufacturing process of the existing negative electrodes. CONSTITUTION: In a negative electrode for an electron tube wherein an electron emitting material layer 1 is formed on a metallic substrate 2 made of nickel as a principal component, the electron emitting layer 1 contains: a metallic oxide of alkaline earth which is obtained from the dissociation of a carbonate of alkaline earth metal containing barium as a principal component; and a La compound and a Mg compound, or a La-Mg compound. With this configuration, a manufacturing process of the electrode so described is 100% compatible with those for existing electrodes and further the life of the electrode is improved by over 15 to 20% from those of conventional oxide electrodes.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen self discharge of a battery by preventing an active material from being separated by containing a solution which prevents contact between the active material and an aqueous electrolytic solution. SOLUTION: A positive electrode for an alkaline storage battery consists of a porous nickel substrate 31 formed on an electrode plate and active material particles 32 which contain nickel hydroxide and an additive and with which pores are filled. The surface of respective active material particles 32 is coated with a conductive layer 33, and the conductive layer 33 is constituted of CO(OH)2 or CoO(OH). The surface of the conductive layer 33 is coated with a solution layer 34. The solution layer 34 prevents the active material 32 from dropping and also from contacting electrically with the aqueous electrolytic solution to lessen self-discharge of the battery. It is preferable that the electric conductivity of the solution layer 34 is lower than that of Ni(OH)2 used as an active material and also it is preferable that the solution layer 34 does not react with and is not mixed with the aqueous electrolytic solution.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the manufacture of a cathode with improved service life and cutoff drift charracteristic by method 100% compatable with a conventional method. SOLUTION: In a cathode for an electron tube where an electron emitting material layer 1 containing alkali earth metal oxide having barium oxide as its main component formed on a metal base 2 having nickel as its main component, La, Mg and Mn oxide are contained further in the layer 1. Accordingly, the service life and cutoff drift characteristic are improved with the manufacturing method 100% compatible with a conventional method.
