Abstract: A plasma addressed liquid crystal display in which the structure of the plasma address portion is improved is disclosed. In the plasma address portion of the present liquid crystal display, a plurality of independent parallel discharge spaces are formed by the grooves formed on a middle plate, and each pair of second electrodes formed by a screen printing are formed to be opposed on the groove. The liquid crystal display has advantages of easy manufacturing of a low cost.

Abstract: A plasma liquid crystal display panel has a transparent front plate (12), a liquid crystal module (10), a plasma module (20), and a back plate (25). A C voltage carrying column electrodes (14) locate between the front plate and an intermediate plate (13). The base plate supports data lines (22') and line scanning cathodes (23'). The line scanning cathodes and data lines are coupled to separate drive stages.The space between the front and back plates is filled with a discharge gas. USE/ADVANTAGE - Improved performance using plasma addressed LCD panel.

Abstract: The display includes an address unit (200) in which barriers (220) of given height are located parallel to one another between planar substrates (130, 250). A single or subdivided first electrode (210) is formed on the inside of the latter substrate (250). Second electrodes (230) are arranged between and parallel to the barriers and insulated from the facing parts of the first electrode. A gas discharge is struck between the first and second electrodes in the spaces between the barriers. ADVANTAGE - Large display area can be achieved, easily mfd. by conventional screen printing process.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display (LCD) using a plasma addressing mode can be applied to the picture display of the two field-technique of an interlaced system used in televisions and whose plasma channels are formed by parallel arranged second electrodes, dielectric lines overlappingly arranged on the second electrodes, and discharge gas injected between the second electrodes. A driving method of the plasma channel is such that discharge occurs according to the potential difference of voltages supplied to two adjacent second electrodes. In scan-driving, one picture consists of two fields, wherein odd and the following even second electrodes as a pair are sequentially enabled to discharge in the first field, and even and the following odd second electrodes as a pair are sequentially enabled to discharge in the second field, thereby decreasing the number of electrodes, facilitating the manufacture of large-sized screens, and simplifying the fabrication process.

Abstract: Strip colour filers (24) lie in parallel on the inner side of a front plate (20). A dielectric layer (25) is formed at defined intervals in sections corresponding to the respective filters (24). A weak fluorescent layer (26) is formed on the dielectric layer (25). Anodes (22) are formed on the fluorescent layer (26) corresponding to the filters (24). Each anode (22) has a light-passing opening (22a) formed in the section corresponding to the holes (25a) of the dielectric layer (25). Thus, optical interference between neighbouring cathodes (23) in the direction of a scanning line is prevented and uniform light intensity is achieved. ADVANTAGE - Can produce pictures of uniform brightness over whole screen. Reduces light intensity differences due to different emission efficiencies of fluorescent material. Produces good picture quality and reduces optical interference.
