    Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing an image 100 which comprises obtaining facial parameters 110 related to properties of a face in an image and contextual parameters 120 related to a context associated with the image (this can include metadata associated with the image and/or generated by analysing the image). An image manipulation is determined in dependence on the obtained facial parameters and contextual parameters, and applied to the image to obtain a modified image 150 in which an appearance of the face is dependent on the context associated with the image. The face in the image may be manipulated based on a parameterised face model 130, 140. The face may be in the background of the image and may be processed to anonymise or blur the face. The face may be in the foreground of the image and processed to bring the facial parameters of the face closer to reference facial parameters.

    Abstract: A method comprising: obtaining information indicative of quality of an image 626 generated by a graphics-related operation (i.e. application) 608 to display the image on a display; obtaining information indicative of a load generated by the application; determining a scale factor to be applied during the application using the obtained information; intercepting a command 612, 616 from the application sent to a GPU, the command comprising writing image data to a framebuffer 615, 624; modifying the command using the factor to downscale a region 614, 622 within the framebuffer into which the image is written; and sending the modified command to the GPU for execution, whereby power is reduced when the modified command is executed. The method may comprise configuring hardware parameters such as processor frequency or voltage. The scale factor and hardware parameters may be selected according to predicted performance of the application and hardware. The image data 622 may be upscaled when read out from the framebuffer 624. The intercepted commands may comprise viewport, texture or image render commands.

    Abstract: An image processing method is disclosed, comprising comparing a first image and a modified second image, the modified second image comprising a copy of the first image in which at least one pixel value of one or more pixels have been modified, and based on the result of the comparison, generating first image reconstruction information which can be combined with the modified second image to reconstruct the first image. A corresponding image reconstruction method comprises combining the image reconstruction information with the modified second image to reconstruct the first image. Apparatus for implementing the methods is also disclosed.

    Abstract: A first image and a modified second image – a copy of the first image in which pixel value(s) have been modified - are compared S101; based on the comparison first image reconstruction information, which can be combined with the second image to reconstruct the first image S503, is generated S102. The first image reconstruction information may be encrypted. The image reconstruction information may comprise residual values associated with the modified pixels, generated by subtracting pixel values from the first and second images; alternatively it may comprise a residual image. The image reconstruction information may instead comprise original pixel values associated with the replaced pixels. The first image and the modified second image may correspond to a sequence of video frames. The second image may be a copy of the first image modified by: adding a watermark, blurring out logos or faces, applying filters, or adding interactive objects. In another aspect of the invention a modified second image may be combined with image reconstruction information in order to reconstruct a first image; wherein the second image comprises a copy of the first image in which pixel(s) have been replaced.
