    Abstract: An elongate member, for example, in the form of a flag pole, comprises two components 2, 3 interconnected, with part of one component being inserted into an open mouth defined by the other component. One component carries two bushes 4, 5, each bush defining a plurality of peripheral grooves of different depths. An O-ring is associated with each bush, each O- ring being positioned in a selected groove. The positioning of the O-rings is such that when the bushes have been introduced into the open mouth of the other member the O-rings are in firm contact with the interior of the open end of other member. It is possible to select the O-ring in a groove of a selected depth to ensure that a good fit is obtained.
