    Abstract: The method is for making a container with a base (4a) and a sidewall (4b) from a metal blank disc. It involves placing a soft metal disc (2) between further hard (3) and soft (1) metal discs. The intermediate disc has a diameter which is equal to the base of the finished container. The superimposed discs are heated and stamped to form the shape of the container, with the hard external disc forming the outer wall of the container. The contacting surfaces of the three discs can be treated by sandblasting or wire brushing prior to assembly. The intermediate disc can have a thickness approximately double that of the soft inner disc.

    Abstract: The method involves using two metal discs (2,3) of more or less the same dimensions. One of the discs is made of a relatively hard metal with perforations (5) in the middle. The other of a relatively soft metal. The two discs are placed on an anvil and struck, after heating to 400 - 450 deg C. The soft metal is driven through the perforations of the harder one. Both discs are stamped to give them the shape of the cooking vessel. The softer metal is of aluminium or aluminium alloy, while the harder one is of stainless steel. The perforations in the harder metal disc can be made in the middle of truncated conical bosses to give extra grip when the softer metal flows through them. The inner metal disc can be of greater diameter than the outer one so that it can be rolled over its upper edge, and the inside of the vessel can be lined, e.g. with PTFE.
