A printer (10) includes a printing mechanism section (50) for ejecting an ink onto a print paper (900), a main chassis unit (20) in which the printing mechanism section (50) is contained, an ink pack (310) in which an ink for ejecting is contained, and an upper chassis unit (30) which is pivotally attached to the main chassis unit (20) so as to be capable of freely opening/closing around a rotation shaft (350) and in which the ink pack (310) is contained.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus that includes a configuration for keeping a turnable turning body provided on an upper part of an apparatus body, in an opened posture by an arm (supporting member), wherein a housing configuring an appearance of the apparatus is prevented from being deformed.SOLUTION: An inkjet printer 1 includes a scanner 3 openably and closably on an upper part of a recording part 2 by which a recording is performed on a paper. The scanner 3 is kept in an opened posture by an arm 17. A support part 18e for supporting the arm 17 is provided on a base frame 18 configuring a base of an apparatus body, and then on the upper part of the base frame the support part 18e is exposed from an opening 15b formed in the left side 15 of the housing. Thus the arm 17 is directly supported by the base frame 18.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure smooth operation of an opening/closing body, in a recording apparatus including a structure in which an open attitude of a turnable opening/closing body arranged in an upper portion of an apparatus body is kept by an arm.SOLUTION: An inkjet printer 1 includes a scanner portion 3 openably/closably above and adjacent a recording portion 2 performing recording on a paper sheet. An open attitude of the scanner portion 3 is kept by an arm 17. When the scanner portion 3 turns from the open attitude to a close attitude, a guide object portion 17c arranged at a lower end of the arm 17 slides on a guide surface 16b while being guided in a movement direction by a guide rail 16a, thereby smoothness when the guide object portion 17c slides on the guide surface 16b is ensured, and the scanner portion 3 can be resultantly smoothly turned (opened/closed) without giving a feeling of being caught to a user.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader and a multi function peripheral capable of improving the assemblability.SOLUTION: An image scanner comprises: a scanner section 14 for reading an image; and an operation panel 16 mounted to the scanner section 14. The scanner section 14 comprises: a scanner upper portion 30; a scanner lower portion 32 mounted to the scanner upper portion 30; and a glass plate 31 held by the scanner upper portion 30 and the scanner lower portion 32. Further, a mounting direction of the scanner lower portion 32 with respect to the scanner upper portion 30 is the same as a mounting direction of the operation panel 16 with respect to the scanner lower portion 32.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus that has a reduced size by minimizing a space between an apparatus frame and a side housing.SOLUTION: The recording apparatus includes: the apparatus frame 31 having a conveying unit 11 for conveying a recording medium along a conveyance path, and a printing unit 12 for printing on the recording medium; and a pair of side housing parts 32 for covering the both sides of the apparatus frame 31. Outer surfaces 51 along which inner surfaces 60 of each side housing 32 go are formed at the both sides of the apparatus frame 31 so that the pair of side housings 32 can be mounted at each side of the apparatus frame 31.
