    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain resin particles having high heat distortion temperature, by reacting in an aqueous suspension styrene/maleic anhydride copolymer resin particles with a vinyl aromatic monomer and a compound having a functional group which is reactive with a dicarbonyloxo group. CONSTITUTION:At least 20pts.wt. of a styrene/maleic anhydride copolymer resin containing 20-30wt% of a maleic anhydride component, and having an average polymerization degree of 10-250 is suspended in an aqueous medium. To the suspension there are added 1-18pts.wt. of a compound represented by the formula RX, wherein X is a functional group which is reactive with a dicarbonyloxo group and R is residue of a fatty acid having one double bond, 79-32pts.wt. of a vinyl aromatic monomer and a polymerization catalyst, and thereby the components are absorbed in the resin particles. Subsequently, the suspension is allowed to react, forming thermoplastic resin particles. Also, foamable thermoplastic resin particles are obtained by adding a blowing agent during or after the reaction.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To facilitate manufacture and processing by composing the hull construction with thermo plastic bubble forming resin mold made by the combination of the resin of the poly olefin family and a compound of venyl aromatic family, as used as a core material being covered by FRP to increase anti-impact and insoluble characteristics. CONSTITUTION:A thermo plastic bubble forming resin mold is obtained by a resin of poly olefin family such as poly ethylene, poly propylene, random copolymer of ethylene and propylene, and a monomer of the venyl aromatic family such as stylene, ethyl stylene and chloro stylene. With this type of mold as a core material 13a, and using a component material 12 covered by FRP13b, the hull construction of the sliding boat and other marine crafts is formed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare the title resin beads capable of affording foamed products of high elasticity and good cushioning properties, by graft copolymerization of a vinyl aromatic monomer to resin beads such as of chlorinated polyethylene, etc. to make the impregnation of a blowing agent easier. CONSTITUTION:On the presence of a catalyst such as an organic peroxide, A) 30-70 parts by wt. of a vinyl aromatic monomer such as styrene, etc. is subjected to graft copolymerization to B) 70-30 parts by wt. of resin beads consisting of a) 25-100 parts by wt. of a chlorinated polyethylene (pref. of a chlorine content of 30-50 wt.%) and b) 0-75 parts by wt. of polyethylene to obtain graft-copolymerized resin beads. A blowing agent comprising a readily-volatile hydrocarbon or halogenated hydrocarbon is then pressed into the beads in an aqueous suspension system, thus obtaining the objective expandable resin beads. EFFECT:Capable of affording foamed products of high restoring potential against various external force or pressure.
