Abstract: A method for preparing methyl isobutyl ketone comprises reacting mesityl oxide and methyl isobutyl alcohol under the action of a copper-based catalyst to produce methyl isobutyl ketone, where mesityl oxide and methyl isobutyl alcohol are employed to carry out hydrogen in-situ transfer under the action of the copper-based catalyst, and methyl isobutyl ketone is prepared in one step. The entire reaction process does not require an external hydrogen system. The reaction is carried out under normal pressure, and the process flow is short.
