Abstract: An apparatus for examining carcases (26, 27) by means of ultrasound on a slaughter line (30), in which an ultrasound transducer (10) comes into contact with the surface of the carcases (26). The ultrasound transducer (10) is adapted to be mounted immovably on the stationary frame (37) of the slaughter line so that the carcase transport mechanism (33, 34) of the slaughter line moves the carcases (26) across the ultrasound transducer (10), resting on the ultrasound transducer with a considerable part of their weight.
