Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable manufacturing the following two kinds of optical coupling elements by using the same production facilities since a case can commonly be used by a photo coupler and a reflective type photo interrupter by providing a partition groove between the positions where a light emitting element and a light receiving element are installed and by fitting a light transmitting or light intercepting partition plate in the partition groove. CONSTITUTION:A partition groove 15 is provided between a light emitting element 4 and a light receiving element 5 in the case 14 of an optical coupling element. In the case of a photocoupler, a light transmitting partition plate 16 high enough to the extent to be entered in a light intercepting resin 9 which seals a top surface is fit in the partition groove 15 and stuck with insulating adhesives 17. On the other hand, in the case of a reflective type photo interrupter, a light intercepting partition plate 18 high enough to the top surface of the case 14 is fit and stuck with the insulating adhesives. In such a structure, the case 14 is commonly used by the photocoupler and the reflective type photo interrupter.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify adhesion of cavities, and also to reduce the cut area of cavities as much as possible, by positioning respective sealed bodies by positioning bodies and by cutting them along slits with the positioning bodies detached after the adhesion to each cavity. CONSTITUTION:On ceramic substrate 11, several cavities 12 and slits 13 are formed and detachable position bodies 17 are setting to each slit 13. After being positioned by material 17, respective sealed bodies are adhered to corresponding cavities 12 and after bodies 17 are detached from slits 13, the substrate is cut along slits 13 and divided into several ceramic packages. Consequently, cavities are adhered easily and the cut area of cavities on substrate 11 can be reduced.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the dielectric strength between light emitting and light receiving elements by making the creeping length of a light reflecting layer definite and sufficient by forming the light reflecting layer made of nontransparent resin by casting using a metal mold for forming provided with heating means. CONSTITUTION:Lead frames 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B are so positioned that both elements 3, 4 and part of an optical path 7 face toward the recession 12A of a mold and are mounted on a metal mold 12 for forming, a low-viscosity, nontransparent resin made of a white silicon resin is dropped from a resin ejector 8 in the recession 12A of a mold and both the elements 3, 4 and the optical path 7 are perfectly buried. The nontransparent regin is heated by a heater 13 provided in the metal mold 12 for forming, hardened and a light reflecting layer 11 is formed. Then, the periphery of the light reflecting layer 11 is covered and sealed by a light intercepting resin and an enclosure is formed by the light intercepting resin.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase the interval of a chip without reducing the efficiency of light transfer by providing light shielding third resin material which contains a filler which covers first and second resin materials. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting device 12 and a photo detector 13 mounted face to face on lead frames 11, 11, a light transmitting resin 15 which contains a filler which seals the photo detector 13 by providing open space at the top of a light receiving surface, a flexible and light transmitting resin 16 which is filled in the space and seals the light emitting device 12 and a light shielding resin 17 which covers the total of these are provided. That is, the total is made of the resins which have no interface which short-circuits the lead frames 11, 11 of the light emitting device 12 and the photo detector 13, have high dielectric strength, high transmittance for part (greater part) of an optical path and flexibility. This can increase the interval of the chip between the photo detector 13 and the light emitting device 12 without reducing the efficiency of light transfer.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To achieve the reduction of current consumption while surely performing the signal transmission of each stage of frequency dividing by driving the frequency dividing front stage including an oscillation circuit with the current through a current limiting resistance and conneting the front and rear ends of frequency dividing via level shifter. CONSTITUTION:The inverters INV1, INV2 behind a C-MOS crystal oscillation circuit and FFs... for front stage frequency dividing are driven by the current through a current limiting resistance RL, whereby the current consumption is reduced. The final stage FF of these FFs for front stage frequency dividing and the frequency dividing rear stage formed by inverters, FFs, etc. driven by the supply current are connected by way of a level shifter 3 and the front stage frequency divided outputs are surely transmitted to the frequency dividing rear stage by level matching through adjustment of the output level of the frequency dividing front stage. Hence, while the signal is being surely transmitted to each stage of frequency dividing, the reduction in the current consumption of the C-MOS crystal oscillation circuit may be achieved.
