An active matrix substrate includes: a plurality of pixel electrodes arranged in a matrix pattern and each forming a pixel; a plurality of gate lines each provided between the corresponding pixel electrodes and extending in parallel with each other; a plurality of first source lines each provided between the corresponding pixel electrodes and extending in a direction crossing an extending direction of the gate lines; a plurality of TFTs provided corresponding to the respective pixel electrodes and connected to the respective pixel electrodes, the respective gate lines, and the respective first source lines; a plurality of capacitor lines each provided between the corresponding gate lines and extending in parallel with each other; and a plurality of second source lines each provided between the corresponding pixel electrodes and extending in parallel with the first source lines.
Abstract:
An active matrix substrate comprises a transistor 12, a first capacitor electrode which may be provided by pixel electrode 17 connected to the drain electrode 8 of the TFT 12. A conductor provided in a layer below the pixel electrode functions as the second capacitor electrode. A gate insulating film covering the gate electrode and extending between the conductor and the pixel electrode has a thin section 31 and a non-thin section surrounding the thin section. Thin section 31 is provided in an on-conductor area 38 such that it overlaps the conductor and the pixel electrode. Thereby reducing inconsistency in capacitance values of capacities provided in the active matrix substrate.

The present invention is a substrate for a display device comprising an active matrix substrate and an opposed substrate which are opposed to each other with a display medium layer interposed therebetween, said active matrix substrate including a pixel electrode arranged in a matrix shape on the side of the display medium layer and said opposed substrate including a common electrode opposing to the pixel electrode on the side of the display medium layer, wherein said substrate for a display device includes an electrode slit formed in one of the pixel electrode and the common electrode; and at least one of the electrical connecting portions of said electrode slit is provided outside of a light-blocking region.
