Abstract: An oil-in-water emulsified sunblock cosmetic has excellent feeling when used and maintains a high ultraviolet-ray protective effect even upon contact with water or sweat. The oil-in-water emulsified sunblock cosmetic contains an (A) ultraviolet-ray protective agent and a (B) fatty acid forming a solid at room temperature, the cosmetic is characterized in that 51% or less of the fatty acid is neutralized, and the formulation ratio ((A)/(B) of the (A) ultraviolet-ray protective agent to the (B) fatty acid is in the range of at least 0.1 and less than 10.0. The cosmetic exhibits the unprecedented and surprising property of contact with water causing an improvement to the ultraviolet-ray protective ability. It is preferable for the cosmetic to contain an (C) oily component having IOB of 0.5 or higher.

Abstract: The present invention provides an water-in-oil sunscreen cosmetic in which an unpleasant odor specific to zinc oxide can be suppressed by using hydrophobized silica-coated microparticle of zinc oxide, coarseness due to the hydrophobized silica-coated microparticle of zinc oxide can be suppressed and smoothly and well spreadable excellent texture are brought in reality by formulating a combination of the hydrophobized silica-coated microparticle of zinc oxide and a predetermined amount of volatile hydrocarbon oil and volatile dimethicone. The water-in-oil emulsion sunscreen cosmetic of the present invention comprises (a) a hydrophobized silica-coated microparticle of zinc oxide, (b) a volatile hydrocarbon oil, and (c) a volatile dimethicone, wherein the total amount of (b) the volatile hydrocarbon oil and (c) the volatile dimethicone is in the range of 3 to 45% by mass on the basis of the total amount of the sunscreen cosmetic.

Abstract: The purpose of the present invention is to provide an oil-in-water emulsion composition exhibiting high UV-protective capabilities with which it is possible to uniformly and stably disperse a hydrophobized metal oxide into an inner phase (oil phase) without detracting from the inherent fresh sensation on use of an oil-in-water emulsion composition even when a high amount of the hydrophobized metal oxide is compounded therewith. In summary, the present invention is an oil-in-water emulsion composition characterized by including (A) 0.1-5 mass % of polyether-modified silicone having an HLB (Si) of 5-14, (B) one or more hydrophilic thickeners, (C) a metal oxide hydrophobized by an agent other than metal soap, and (D) nonvolatile oil other than silicone oil, the (C) hydrophobized metal oxide being present in the inner phase.

Abstract: The object is providing a water-in-oil emulsion sunscreen cosmetic having a property not present in the prior art, in which UV protection ability improve upon contact with water, sweat and the like in comparison with that directly after application, and also having pleasant texture and easy to wash off. The present invention provides a water-in-oil emulsion sunscreen cosmetic comprising (A) 6 to 40 mass % of a UV protective agent; (B) an organic-modified clay mineral; (C) an oil-phase-thickening agent, other than (B) and (D) a silicone-based surfactant having an HLB of less than 8, wherein the ratio, [total quantity of component (B) and component (C)]/[total quantity of (E) non-volatile liquid oils except silicone oils], is 0.04 or more and less than 0.68.
