Abstract: PURPOSE:To economically produce a Ca-Al alloy, by applying an electric current to CaO-Al2O3 molten slag as a resistance heater, adding CaO and Al to the surface of the molten slag, and heating and reacting the additives with the molten slag. CONSTITUTION:An upper electrode 1 and a furnace-bottom electrode 2 made of artificial graphite are located inside an electric furnace made of a refractory material 3 such as Al2O3. Molten slag 6 such as CaO-Al2O3 prepared in another furnace is poured into the electric furnace. The upper electrode 1 is immersed in the molten slag. An electric current is applied to the molten slag 6 between the upper electrode 1 and the furnace-bottom electrode 2, so that the molten slag is heated and held at 1,500 deg.C or so by electric resistance heating. Abstract: PURPOSE:To firmly bond a metallic material to a ceramic material by preforming an alumina film of flame spraying on a face of metal to be bonded, coating the film of flame spraying with a pasty bonding material containing specific alloy powder, piling ceramic on the coated film and hot-pressing. CONSTITUTION:An aluminum film of flame spraying is preformed on a face of iron-based or copper-based metal to be bonded and the alumina film of flame spraying is coated with a pasty binder containing alloy powder having a composition comprising 10-60wt.% at least one of Cu and Ni, 0.5-10wt.% at least one of Ti, Nb and Zr and the rest Ag containing inevitable impurities. Then ceramic comprising alumina, aluminum nitride or silicon nitride is piled on the coated face and hot-pressed.

CONSTITUTION:A binder 3 contg. an active metal is spread on the surface of a ceramic substrate 1 so that the resulting binder layer is made larger than a metallic material 2. This metallic material 2 is stuck to the substrate 1, pressed and heated to obtain a metal-ceramic laminated substrate. The thermal shock resistance, that is, cracking resistance of the laminated substrate is remarkably improved.
